Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

YES!! Additionally, get involved in the PTO and help fundraise for things. Some ppl seem to think there are magical other people out there that will take care of raising money for their kids to have things/opportunities in schools. The reality is that schools often run on very tight budgets...

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

That was a recurring nightmare of mine as a kid (long before Silent Hill was even a thought I'm sure).

I agree. IMO Genie+ and its associated costs would push more people to stay offsite vs on in most cases so they can offset some of the expense. Especially since there is no real benefit to adding it to the entire trip, aside from not having to mess with it on a day-to-day basis. If you can...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I can see $25/pp for an ILL or $100/pp for Genie+ at some point, but I don't see them successfully charging $100/pp for a ride that lasts a matter of minutes. They already have the VIP tours, which essentially do the same thing. Having an entire separate system that charges that much for a...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I tried looking to see if this has been discussed recently, but was unable to find anything, so my apologies if it has been asked before.... Given the issues with G+ LL running out so early with crowds increasing as they have this week (and will likely continue to do throughout the holidays)...

    Disney's Over-Reliance on Smartphones

TWDC Parks Division is just BEGGING to be on Undercover Boss at this point. Is that still a thing? Because if it isn't they could do an entire season with various execs between the two parks for sure.

We used to go all the time when it was still Santa Claus Land. I miss the moving toys display they used to have. It is one of my favorite parks, though we rarely go. It is the only place I've seen teenaged workers ask guests to stop behaving poorly. Add in cleanliness, on-site pet hotel...

Well, I was, but then I moved near St. Louis, MO. Now I'm not far from Six Flag StL, but it is not a good park, imo and far enough away that the only time we go is when the company my hubby works for has a family event and we can go for free. 🤷‍♀️

My moms' house is in Sellersburg (Deer Run)! Small world!! I also have never paid for a skip-the-line pass (and last I was at KY Kingdom they didn't offer one, iirc). Dollywood had one a few years ago and I seriously thought about using it, but ultimately decided not to look into it further...

I'm from Lanesville, IN myself! Good to see another Kentuckiana person around. 👋

DHS Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Fortunately (?) most of those who paid likely won't know what they're missing, and so TWDC won't have to deal with many upset buyers.

Proof of Vaccination or Negative COVID Test required for theme parks soon?

You think that's bad, you should try looking at voting precincts sometime. If they're anything like St. Clair County IL, it looks like someone gave a drunk toddler a crayon and said, "Good enough!" (And yes, I know there are reasons for splitting the areas up as they do, but, dayum, they are a...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

Agreed. Just a little button that pops up when the ride goes down (maybe after a certain period of time eg, more than 30 minutes, given return times are an hour?) that says "Request Refund". It isn't available at any other time, ONLY when the ride is down. Saves guests headache of having to...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I believe it WAS being skipped earlier today. I agree -- If I'm paying out of pocket, extra money for a ride, I should not be getting less than the full experience (AA malfunctions aside).

Meh. I don't think the everyday programmers will have that mindset. They are the ones that will catch hell if/when things go down/fail from lower/middle management. Could be senior mgmt is more lackadaisical about it; that wouldn't be surprising, sadly.

The ONLY time I've had issues with my bank was the one trip I let them know I'd be in Maine. IDK why, but I've been to FL numerous times, OK, IN, KY, and TN with no issues. It was just the one time I told them I was going to be travelling.

This is true. Maybe it is the same, but it still doesn't feel equivalent somehow though. 🤷‍♀️
