News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Well, "Disney" didn't assess the situation. Some college kid with no training did.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

It doesn’t matter if it’s abuse or not. It’s too much. It’s breaking the entire queuing system.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Still I’d rather her be on DAS than all the people who walk up to the blue umbrellas and just say they have anxiety.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I bet the DAS users were the majority of the capacity on those as well. While they were waiting for their time to enter the lightning lane, they had time to enjoy those other rides. Any standby guest who wanted to experience a popular attraction doesn't have time for such things.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I don't think the return to line feature will work very well at all. But the rider switch feature will, and it will accommodate people very well.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I believe it just says that they need a "reasonable accommodation". So certainly some gray area there. But if you can show that your disabled guests are able to experience just as much in a day as your non-disabled guests, then that must mean that they are being reasonably accommodated.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

They care about the lines in the sense that they care about guest satisfaction, because they need you to want to come back and to tell your friends and family good things about your trip. If overall guest satisfaction goes down, that's a problem. If guest satisfaction for the 90% who aren't on...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

They absolutely could do both of those things if they wanted to. As long as they could show that the average DAS user was experiencing the same number of attractions as the average standby guest, they'd be pretty bulletproof.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I doubt anywhere close to "most" of them will. But even if every last one of them buys Genie+ and ILL's, they STILL won't put as much pressure on the queues as they are now.

I hope so! My trip starts June 22

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Avatar land Star Wars land Toy Story land Tron Remy’s ratatouille adventure All new things, not replacements. That added a ton of capacity. There was also the fantasy land expansion but that was 12 years ago now. Cosmic rewind replaced something, but something that nobody ever attended. It...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

It doesn’t really seem like a crackdown to me. It’s just a change in how they are accommodating different disabilities. DAS was major overkill as an accommodation for most disabilities.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Addressing DAS issues doesn’t prevent them from addressing any of those other issues. I don’t really get the argument about it being stale or diminishing. Disney has added a ton of stuff to Disney world just over the past 10 years, and supposedly has big plans for more in the coming 10 years.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

LL use and standby times are perfectly correlated. DAS abuse most likely helps them sell more Genie+, too. Likely they saw that DAS use was growing to such a level that they could no longer sell as much Genie+ as was being demanded on busy days and they were losing money. At the same time...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

How are you so confident in something you have absolutely no evidence for (the affect of DAS on wait times) while simultaneously cautioning people not to jump to conclusions about DAS use / abuse?

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I don’t think that would be difficult at all. Their accommodations continue to be far more generous than they need to be to pass legal muster. And it would not be hard at all to show that accommodating large parties through DAS fundamentally affects their business.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

This is a fantastic video about fast passes that is exceptionally long, but I loved it. It’s a bit of a depressing look at how an idea from a guy with good intentions can be so horribly twisted by the penny pinchers. But it should also really illuminate how and why the DAS can cause serious...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

LOL I don’t want to disparage anyone’s disabilities. But the reality warping that it takes to view using DAS to an average standby patron is just crazy. The number one thing that will dissuade someone from entering an attraction is the amount of time he has to stand in line. DAS eliminates...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Every single DAS user has an advantage over every single standby rider every single time. It’s honestly just silly to pretend otherwise. No, they are not waiting like everyone else. If a ride has a 3 hour standby time, they only have to commit to standing in line for 10 minutes. From an...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Standby times can’t increase by taking away the ability for more people to ride a ride without sacrificing any of their time waiting. How would that happen?
