    Controversial/ Unpopular theme park opinions

This is true. Although I still think a well-designed covered breezeway is sufficient. Magic Kingdom's early queues were often of this type, and so are other Disney resorts with temperamental weather. Paris (rainy and cold), for instance, has many queues like this and they are wonderful.

Avengers Campus - Reactions / Reviews

You're looking at an old satellite photo. The building you are pointing at (much of the area you chose wasn't even a building) was the old Autopia that was in the process of being demolished. Here's the most recent publicly available satellite photo, notice the date: Land's cleared, but...

Avengers Campus - Reactions / Reviews

The Avengers attraction in Hong Kong hasn't even begun construction yet. The building you were looking at is the Iron Man ride over there. The plot of land for the Avengers ride is over 2 acres in size, more than double the size of that square you've drawn.

    Controversial/ Unpopular theme park opinions

Unpopular opinion I feel moderately strongly about: - There's too much emphasis on E-tickets. And not enough calls for a rich assortment of simple dark rides. Unpopular opinion I feel very strongly about: - There should be a fee to bring a stroller into the park. Unpopular opinion so crazy...

Former VP Details Original Star Wars Land Plans

I like the idea of a Star Wars version of Rivers of America. Where you get in a ginormous sandcrawler and get to wander up and down and around the vehicle while it cruises through a desert canyon landscape with some animals in it. There's like real life performers in jawa sandrobes and stuff...

Former VP Details Original Star Wars Land Plans

Exactly. All that article shows is that VP Dan Cockerell doesn't give one about theme parks as an art form and place for creative spark, and simply sees it as a business that preys on a certain weakness in people (in this case, their weakness for familiarity over being challenged by new...

What should be done with the Carrousel theater (Tomorrowland Expo Center) in Tomorrowland?

That entire area - with the Hyperion theater/eating area and whatever circular building just south west of it - was just a placeholder that could be easily demolished for future additions. I actually think the entire northeast section of the park is entirely vague, including the eastern side of...

What should be done with the Carrousel theater (Tomorrowland Expo Center) in Tomorrowland?

Paris' Discoveryland is not a real place. It doesn't attempt to seem like a functional, human-occupiable space. So, mainly, it's just a bunch of Steam Punk decoration on what's clearly theme park buildings. DisneySea attempted to build a real space, a sort of volcano base or volcano mine or...

What's Still On and What's Now Off

It's a really hard question to solve, because - and I'm saying this as someone who is a scientist by trade - biology is really, really, really hard. It's one of those things where politicians/media/laypeople are trying to say blanket terms like "testing" that make almost no sense to the people...

    All things Knotts Berry Farm

No, not all live actors in the park, just this one. I don't think I'm asking too much for a projection heavy show to figure out a way to continue the spirit of the show without having it be in the current format. It's possible with some imagination, maybe present the material as a series of...

Nice piece of art for 1992 Beast attraction

It could have been awesome. A small scale land imitating the hutong alleyways (that are increasingly more endangered). More appropriate than the traditional "Imperial" style Chinese architecture. And definitely trying to avoid the Westernized streets of old Shanghai. Part of me thinks...

    All things Knotts Berry Farm

Gonna have to engineer out the live actor, unfortunately. No one's keeping the queue simply for Haunt.

    All things Knotts Berry Farm

Mystery Lodge should be downsized and converted into a simple walk-through attraction. There's no need for its large queue and preshow area (and I like the preshow, with its moody ominous rainstorm) and the auditorium is likely three sizes too big. Just continually run the show on a loop and...

Nice piece of art for 1992 Beast attraction

Which is why I contend it's got to have something to do with "upper management" or executives or whoever calls the shots for Imagineering. Bob Weiss (his designs for Disney's America were amazing) knows how to do much better than "weird boxes with parts glued on," but somehow, that may be the...

Nice piece of art for 1992 Beast attraction

Terrific. The old imagineers had such an incredible grasp of scale and (for lack of another term) syncopation in their designs. It's really incredible. How was this a skill that was lost?.... ...if it has been. The last time Imagineering showed this level of understanding about this was the...

    All things Knotts Berry Farm

I actually quite like KFC, although your point to their greasiness is well-taken. Try the extra crispy to get rid of it some. As for the size of their chickens, that is also a good point. Although here I would like to point out that if you don't force-feed chickens growth hormones and...

Dear Knott's, Just received your e-mail about honoring the 2020 Season Pass for all of 2021. For doing such a generous thing, you have guaranteed a pass purchase from me for 2022. Keep up the good work, XOXO

A Pictorial Of An Abandoned Anaheim Resort District - How Does It Recover?

Nah. Legal Sea Foods lobster rolls are the mayo kind. And those are inherently inferior to the real, butter kind.

A Pictorial Of An Abandoned Anaheim Resort District - How Does It Recover?

I will not ever be convinced that a Butterfly Farm was a viable business proposition. Is there a hankering for Butterfly farms that I'm not aware of? Most natural history museums and zoos and have one, and not once have I ever heard anyone say that was either a highlight of their visit or...

What's Still On and What's Now Off

As I understand it from what I've read, Walt was tired of making the package films that were heavily compromised due to penny pinching and the propaganda films that were not any sort of artistic expression. All it allowed the company to do was barely tread water. So he put all the resources...
