    Character Spot question

For Character Spot in Epcot you wait in one line and get to meet all the available characters by waiting in that one line. You see them one at a time, but just walk down a row of characters. Character Spot is one of our favorite places to see Mickey, Minnie and Goofy because there are many...

    Character Dining: worth it?

Skip those character meals! If it were just me and my hubby we would just snack our way around WDW. ;) There are so many awesome hidden treasures to eat that I wouldn't waste my time at a TS restaurant. My mouth is watering just thinking about all the options in WS at Epcot! When we have...

    second week of January?

You can book January 2015 now. You just have to call and do it. The website isn't open that far out yet. If a discount comes out between now and then you can always call and have it applied to your reservation.

How long to spend in each park?

As a family who has taken their kids since 4 months old, I have to completely agree with this disagreement. ;) Planning was the only way I kept sane. Going in with a plan, at least an idea, made things so much simpler, IMO. I agree with all of these things too. Pre-park opening character...

Tips for booking for the first time with young children?

I thought of a few more things. :p I love WDW planning. I put together a "surprise" package for my kids before we leave. Sometimes it shows up at our front door before we leave and sometimes it shows up in our room when we get there. It all depends on what I put in it. (We never ship or...

    Just returned observations

No way! ;) I'm only 37. I mean the 22-23 year old first year teachers (no offense if anyone out there fits this role). You know.....the ones that freak out if their smartboard isn't working or if the network is down. :banghead: No contingency plans........... I LOVE the fresh look at...

    Wanting to try beignets

We stayed at POR for the first time last summer. We had never tried the beignets and walked over to POFQ. They were.......ok........but IMO there are much better sweet snack options in WS at Epcot. ;)

    Just returned observations

I don't think legacy FP was totally insane. We just tour differently. We let the kids sleep in and get to the parks when we get there. RD is not fun for us because we stay late and enjoy low crowds and less heat in the summer. By the time we get to the parks all the FPs for the big...

    Just returned observations

Just curious if you've ever traveled to WDW with children. It is MUCH easier to have one parent split from the group and "run" to get fastpasses. Getting to a park at RD, being swallowed by the crowd "running" for TSMM is not what I want to put my children through. Therefore, I would "run" to...

    Quick Service Dining

Just a suggestion.......if you have a smartphone search your app store for a dining app. There are a few good ones out there that will give you menus and prices (so you can see the best values). The one I have I think I paid a couple of bucks for, but I love it and refer to it all the time...

    Table service with short waits

You just can't expect to get character meals or the high demand places. You also can't always expect to get one at normal meal times. You may have to eat lunch at 2pm or dinner at 9pm. But like I said I can usually find something. Resorts tend to have more open than the parks, but its not...

    Table service with short waits

We have traveled in early to mid-June quite a bit. We have never walked up to any table service restaurant, BUT I usually am able to get us same day ADRs at many places around the world. I use the Disney app on my phone and search around until I find something close and that we all agree on...

    Annual Passes or individual trips?

We joined the AP/TiW camp a few years ago too! Best decision ever! We definitely have saved money. Yes, they automatically add the 18% gratuity on your bill. We use our Disney Visa rewards to pay for our meals and when that runs out we charge it to our room and then to our Disney Visa to...

What's with all the love for spinners?

My kids love all the spinner rides and just HAVE to ride them all......even though they are all the same. o_O

Tips for booking for the first time with young children?

Not sure how old your kids are, but we've taken our from 4 months old on up. Our oldest is 10. When we go to Disney I make a plan and decide which park we go to each day, but everything else we leave up to the kids. We let them lead the way. If they are hungry, we eat. If they are tired, we...

Frozen and Saving Mr. Banks out on DVD & Blu-ray today

The only reason I preordered it was because the Disney Store had a promo. If you preordered it in like the first week you got a coupon for $20 off a $50 Disney Store purchase. The was hard to pass up. ;) Plus it came with some pretty cool posters that my daughter will love.

    Annual Passholder Question

We just became annual passholders in 2012 and that is exactly what we did. I had the voucher and was able to see the passholder rates and book through the website at that rate. All I was required to do was to show my AP at the front desk sometime during my stay. When we checked in we still...

Frozen and Saving Mr. Banks out on DVD & Blu-ray today

Pre-ordered ours from the Disney Store and got it Monday. BUT.....I'm holding it for the Easter basket! I don't know if I will be able to stand it.

keys to the kingdom cards vs the new magic bands

I believe at this time you can still get a good 'ol plastic card and not use the Magic Band. I'm not sure if it will stay that way forever, but at least right now you can use either. The Magic Band will act as your room key, park ticket, and also have the ability to charge items to your room...

What does everyone think about Mama Melrose's?

We do a lunch ADR at MMs every trip. The pastas and flatbreads are really good. Service has always been great. Kids love it too! If you are paying OOP the bill doesn't give you sticker shock either. ;)
