Another problem I always think of, is the fact that during the day busses rarely, if ever, fill up. So either guests will have to wait significantly longer if disney really cares about the capacity of the monorails, or they will run just about as often as the busses run.

This is true but, sorry for not remembering where, I did read somewhere that Walt's initial plan was to build this into a fully functional airport to keep guests completely on property. Please correct me if I am wrong though.

There was an airport on property from the beginning, the run way is still there just east of the racetrack south of MK. The company decided it would be impractical to use it as Orlando has an airport 30 minutes away.
