New DVC Resort Near CSR Planned?

I'm staying at SSR for the first time in October . . . why all the hate? I've never stayed there before, so I'm just curious as to why so many people seem to dislike it. Any comments? (I have no kids, am prepared for the lackluster theming, will be staying at Grandstand, and will have a car to...

    October Trip

We'll be there from the 10th-17th . . . is it just busy Sunday and Monday for Columbus Day weekend, or does that carry over for the whole week? We couldn't book the following week due to a family birthday.

    Pack's in WDW

Just say NO to the pack. I find it hard to believe that Disney still produces them. Sorry, folks, but I'm a young woman w/no kids who still worries about her appearance . . . you may as well have a mullet and a Big Dogs t-shirt on while you're at it, if you're going with the pack...

    Stanley Cup Champions in WDW?

Wow, you think the Flyers will put up that much of a fight???

    Stanley Cup Champions in WDW?

Just watched the Cubs game last night . . . Toews, Kane, Burish, and Soupy were all sitting amongst the fans, enjoying the game. No box suite, not even first row, just around the fans. They were in street clothes, and some people recognized them, but others didn't. They could walk through the...

What Extinct Attraction Do You Miss The Most

I agree with everything mentioned, but want to add the old Diamond Horseshoe Revue show into the mix. I remember back in the 80s it was difficult to get a seat . . . we waited years for the opportunity to see it, and I haven't seen a show there in forever. But, if I want a hot dog, I think I...

    How does this look?

Hi Disney Girl! I can also suggest Studio Catering Co. at DHS. There are plenty of tables, it's shaded, and the new menu (sandwiches) is supposed to be good. I've eaten there on the last two trips, and haven't had a bad experience. There's a review on the web somewhere that says that the...

    Worst Meal at Disney

I'm actually going to dispute you on this. I have been to some fantastic authentic Mexican restaurants, and Cantina & San Angel pale in comparison. I'd rather have On the Border, or our excellent local places in Bloomingdale or Arlington Heights, than the bland mush from Disney. It's nowhere...

Something Being Tested at Old Imageworks?

Thanks, Toad, for getting our hopes up! All DH and I ever talk about is ripping that whole Imagination pavilion apart . . . we'll continue to dream.

What is the Best kept Secret Dining Location at WDW?

It's in the Planet Hollywood hotel, near the casino (not in the shops). There are apparently more than just those two, including three on Florida's turnpike and two in airports. It really annoys me when folks gush over this place. It's not as unique and original as people think it is! For a...

Anyone had any uninformed CM cases?

I realize that there's a great deal of turnover, but we had some poor experiences with the front desk at DL 3 1/2 years ago. First, when we asked the concierge where to get food on property after 11:00 at night, she said she didn't know, but that there are pizza places that deliver. It wasn't...

American Idol Experience winner in Season 9 Top 24

If you're speaking of Mike Lynche, his dismissal has not been confirmed.

Keepsakes from your trip that don't cost you a thing......

We have our pin showing that we celebrated our honeymoon at WDW. Also, I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the freebies at Innoventions. In 2006, my husband and I created plastic robots, which we still have.

Beach Club and Epcot morning extra magic hours?

When we did this last month, there was a CM that let us in at 9 am. Truthfully, at 9 am, there was nothing open at the WS anyway, so we walked past a bunch of closed carts on our way to FW.

1 week to ADR's... any comments or suggestions?

I can see that you're from Chicago . . do not go to Mexico. You will not like it. It does not taste remotely authentic, and you will be disappointed. I'd try Paradiso 37, though - the company that runs the restaurant owns Timpano's in Naperville, and that place is top-notch. Les Chefs de...

What do you think of these ADR's so far?

I'd back up the suggestion of skipping Mama Melrose. I haven't eaten at a full-service restaurant at DHS since before I could drive . . . in fact, it may have still been the 80s . . . I just mentioned in another thread that we took the boat to the BC for the clambake at Cape May. It's such...

Is it a time-waster to leave a park to eat at a resort?

It's a great idea to eat at the hotels. In '06 we took the boat from DHS to BC for the Cape May clambake - it worked out really well. Transportation was not an issue. In fact, the reason why we did this is because the sit-down options are not very good at DHS (or at any of the parks, really)...

    Which resort would you replace???

I definitely don't agree. Fort Wilderness is old-school - for my money, one of the cheapie value resorts can go. Heck, they really haven't finished Pop Century, so that can go.

Foods you MUST HAVE at WDW...

The amazing pineapple soft serve is at the Aloha Isle in Adventureland. I had the pineapple float for the first time in May, and it's my new favorite. I really need to know how folks need the combo platter at the Cantina . . . that is the poorest Mexican food I've ever had.

    Adults at Character Dining

I've done Cape May and Crystal Palace with my husband, and our entire (all adult) family just did Chef Mickey's. For us, it's a must for every trip. Next time we're considering the Princess Breakfast at Akershus, to see some different characters.
