    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

Not exactly. There will be a dimensionality to it but I wouldn't call it full-fledged 3D. The realism of the imagery will make it appear as though you are looking through a window as opposed to a video. We will achieve this both by the hardware and software.

    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

Well good for Disney! That is an enviable position to be in and certainly says a lot about what's important in the evolution of human achievement - as long as we can continue to lower the quality of our product and make people believe it's magical than we have reached the pinnacle of success...

    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

Exactly. We tried single layer video and it caused motion sickness. It was determined that synch. between motion and video was not the cause in this case. What we are working on now is extremely labor intensive and technically complex and will make for a very realistic experience. The results...

    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

Screamscape is pretty close although the projection/media system will be far more advanced than the example Lance gives. During tests people have been getting a bit sick due to the ultra-realism and depth perception. The media actually needs to be created in layers with varying speeds...

    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

The connector is the train ride itself. This attraction is turning out to be the second E-ticket for the expansion. It's much more than a train ride...trust me. The technical challenges are many but the reward will pay off immensely!

Laughingplace report that Garner Holt Productions Acquires Complete Disney AA Product

This is true however the parks have a sustaining engineering department that is responsible for modification designs and approvals. Sometimes the techs. have better ideas than engineering as I'm sure Alektronic could verify :) I'm not sure I'd call him a creative genius although he is a...

This of course comes down to opinion but I believe the new version is a wonderful improvement over the previous. When a dark ride can convey its story through mostly the visuals and can compel a solid emotional response it succeeds on a cinematic level. There are very few rides that have...

I don't have a problem with keeping Dumbo as is. I'm just saying that a Disney park needs more than rides that go round in circles and a series of cheap tableaus.

Wow seriously? I'll tell you what how about we do both the spinner and the dark ride? Remember the spinner was already there. I don't know what kids you are talking to but when I was a kid I loved the complex dark rides. My kids loved and still love the complex dark rides. I went on Dumbo...

One of the many concepts shot down by our top notch management in charge at WDW:mad:

Hence the problem...typical corporate MBA thinking that will never allow for progress. Despite the lagging economy WDW has consistently maintained a very steady, if not growing, attendance. I realize some of this is due to discounting but the fact remains that the parks themselves are packed...

To be fair I'd say this Dumbo is about as nice as DLPs but really there is only so much you can do with a spinner. Amen to exceeding expectations! WDW used to do it and now they barely meet them. I can't tell you how many concepts I worked on that got turned down because other projects were...

So seeing a bunch of fiberglass Dumbos on arms running in circles makes you dream that anything can come true. I'm not attacking you but I think you are helping to make my point. I want to be transported to the 1940's and immersed in another world. The water and Dumbo spinner doesn't do it for...

You are 100% correct sir. If only there were a group with the resources to combat all this mediocrity and just take over! One can certainly dream :animwink:

you're right that there is a disconnect. I don't believe that Disney should be catering to the young kids...they should be catering to the family. Walt believed the same thing. You say that's what they are going for but I can tell you most fathers have little desire to ride Mermaid or...

I agree in some part to your response. Many guests will visit FLE and be thoroughly enchanted. Than again I've visited parks like Kings Island and watched audiences scream with delight while riding the James Bond simulator. If you haven't been on this attraction suffice it to say that its...

I'm not sure what you mean regarding the loss of credibility. We are stating our opinions just as you are. By the way, I don't believe everything WDW does is of poor or substandard quality. Here is a partial list of attractions that I feel meet the Disney standard: Horizons, World of Motion, the...

Well first of all Carsland is not WDW so that does not apply. Disneyland has been doing a much better job at maintaining the Disney Legacy. As far as what they think of Dinorama and the like - it's just like I said they're mostly disgusted. I haven't talked to many regarding FLE but it does...
