    Universal Demolishing Soundstage 44

Yep seems pretty accurate to me.

    Monsters, Inc. Hollywood Studios rumor

There are slow dark ride sequences and "coaster" sequences. Think Mummy and Spiderman with more show.

    Monsters, Inc. Hollywood Studios rumor

Yes count on it! Gringott's will be an amazing ride. The ride system itself will break new ground and the show elements will be a wonder to behold. There will be plenty of envirnmental effects, 3-D sets and next generation projection effects. It will be better than FJ in my opnion. I haven't...

    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

    Nobody asked me...see my post #1108 ;)

    DCA Setting Records and WDW

My response to this will probably come across as rude but I truly don't mean to be. From your post you come across as a genuine and intelligent person so please don't take this personally. If you experienced a vacuous, cheap ride called Journey Into Your Imagination instead of a wonderous...

    DCA Setting Records and WDW

I can give you concrete evidence from my personal experience that, in general, upper management does not care about the guests. I'm not talking about an area manager in operations, I'm referring to the ones that make decisions as to what kind of quality will be produced for the parks. While...

Hmmm...I wonder if it would be just as amazing in Orlando ;)

Two coasts: One very different world

I would take issue with you regarding your statement that people don't care about quality. You are right in that quality is objective though. Many on these boards try to make the argument that it's subjective but in reality quality material, design and execution is quantifiable and measureable...

Two coasts: One very different world

I have not been pulled on this project (yet?) so I haven't heard anything specific about the M&G. I can tell you they are moving FAST!

Two coasts: One very different world

WOW!!! Your post gave me goosebumps. This is exactly how some of us feel and we are doing something about it. I haven't spent a dime at WDW in probably 5 years. Meanwhile down the street at Universal I'm once again hearing talk of another attraction to go between MIB and Simpsons, the new...

    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

Nah...I think a better model for us would be the Double Dumbo complete with the cutting edge playground or perhaps we could learn how to apply a large mural from Beauty and the Beast restaurant. Maybe the high quality Soarin' film with the scratches or maybe the Nemo carnival dark ride at Epcot...

    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

The answer to this question is complicated. Basically, Universal spends about 20 to 25 percent of an attraction's development budget on soft costs (design, admin, management etc.). Disney can go up to 30 to 40 percent in some cases. The reasons, in part, for Disney's higher soft costs are R&D as...

    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

The Hollywood Reporter, in this case, is just spouting off information they heard a while back regarding the proposed budget for Avatarland. Everything I'm hearing lately is that the project scope has been severely cut. That doesn't mean it can't change but they are still in their early stages...

    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

I know I will regret this but can you elaborate on what you mean by this? Are you somehow insinuating that FJ is nothing more than just moving a bunch of people through like cattle?

The only thing I'm going to say at this point is that it will be another investment of significant proportions. Potter phase 2 is a good two and a half years away but after it opens Kidzone should be the next big thing.

    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

Look for Kidzone to go down next after Potter Phase 2.

    NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

There are plenty of people that recognize the steady decline of WDW. I talk to new people all the time that have never heard of these online forums and still believe WDW is nowhere near as good as it was fifteen years ago. But really that isn't the main point. Even if you were right that has...

I have yet to hear anyone that has visited TDL/TDS disagree with any of this. What more needs to be said? Did you get my email?

No this won't be the same type of optics. We want the visuals to read as natural...MS to me feels forced.
