Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

People view Disney's programming as targeting children which is why they are harder on Disney. However, what I find funny is that they give Illumination a pass, and others too, I'm sure. Barbie is another great example. BUT - they aren't Disney movies. I bet if Disney funneled money and...

Live-Action ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’

Correct. Sorry, I was less than clear. I was talking about all of Disney's releases, not just the animated remakes. The Haunted Mansion, being the latest. People are rewatching old Disney movies in general instead of seeing anything new, in mass. That could buck the trend with Wish, and...

Live-Action ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’

Sorry for the long post, wrote in between tasks. Their goal was and is to make money, they just haven't since 2019. Over time, especially since 2020, I think they have shifted towards an "image correction" that led to more focus on their older IP. I personally find this path unnecessary, but...

Live-Action ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’

That's what you got out of all that I said? Yes I do, but I'm not going to go any further into that. It's not appropriate for this forum, so I won't. The overall point is that their film business is losing money, especially when you remove Marvel from the equation. People aren't watching the...

Live-Action ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’

I mean, given the box office numbers, I'd say that's what most people are doing. Longer term, I think it'll be even more weighted. In the year 2050, I think more people will watch the 1955 Lady and the Tramp than the 2019 Lady and the Tramp. I'll place that bet. I'd even bet that almost no...

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

I expect this will move more quickly in FY24. Hopefully, at least.

    Disney’s Q3 FY23 Earnings Results Webcast

That'll be us. We'll just buy the shows we stream on repeat and then stop paying monthly for multiple services. We have no interest in paying less for time wasting advertising... maybe for the services that don't interrupt the movies, like Peacock. Those almost feel like movie previews at...

    Haunted Mansion

It's sad this film didn't sell more tickets than the Eddie Murphy film. I think it's superior, although still fell a bit short. It is a struggle to find the right balance between family friendly horror and comedy. This got close though, IMHO. I think HM would work better as a Disney+ series...

News Bob Iger talks about attendance declines, ticket pricing, the feud with Ron DeSantis, and his huge optimism for Disney Parks and Resorts

Exactly. There will be some stuff announced, of course, but they're looking several years out from opening. They'd need walls up today just to have something open in two-three years, maybe longer, if we're being realistic with their cost spreading.

EPCOT What's next for Epcot 2024 and Beyond

I don't see them touching M:S after adding a new restaurant and refurbishing the exterior. I'd say, best bets are them taking a look at the Play! and Poppins plots. Refurbishments of SSE and Imagination are possible, SSE being higher priority. I wouldn't be too shocked if they all happened...

News Christine McCarthy to step down from her role as Chief Financial Officer

There's no doubt in my mind that there's been informal talks. They were onboard with the Vision Pro on day one of the announcement. I think it'll be too irresistible if Disney stock plummets in a downturn later this year. It's also a very easy solution to a self created problem.

News Christine McCarthy to step down from her role as Chief Financial Officer

I still speculate that Iger is planning to make himself the last CEO and let Disney hang from a tree with some fruit. We shall see.

News Christine McCarthy to step down from her role as Chief Financial Officer

Big jump in the rank for Kevin, even if it's temporary. The fact it's not a permanent promotion gives me hope that someone else will eventually get the role. Not that many people would make me happy in a CFO role. I worked with Kevin back when he was in charge of Downtown Disney. Didn't hate...

News Disney Jollywood Nights - Disney's Hollywood Studios Holiday Season ticketed event

Sounds like a terrible waste of money to me. So many other, better, seasonal offerings in Florida. Hope those who toss their money at this enjoy it, we won't be among them. If you haven't already, check out the Asian Lantern Festival at the Central Florida Zoo. Now, that's a fun event at a...

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

They might be small, but they do look like fountains. Here's hoping! Still, I hope, at some point for a larger fountain, even if it will be smaller than FoN.

News Disney Jollywood Nights - Disney's Hollywood Studios Holiday Season ticketed event

They could also do the Pixar Place and Animation Courtyard (which is a deadzone at night and no restaurants to worry about). Either/or really. I'm not picky. I say: use both areas and have two of them. 😆

Anyone catch that the current EPCOT overhaul is included in the $17 billion figure?

News Walt Disney Company plans to spend $17 billion at Walt Disney World over the next ten years

I think they'll spend $17 billion, just not on as much stuff as some people would like. Like always, they'll move projects around, push some ahead of others, make changes, cancel some, delay others to the next decade, and most importantly, go over budget on every single one.
