    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

I don’t care for GE as a land, but at least in that situation, the beloved Frontierland section of DL was tastefully modified and retained (thank you, Fantasmic, for any role you might have played in those decisions.) SW was—at the time—something people wanted. Did anybody ask for more “Cars”...

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Had to like this comment, because I 99% agree with it. But in my case, this change genuinely ticks me off—for many reasons. Luckily, I don’t particularly care for MK (having grown up with the amazing original), so for me this is like saying I don’t intend to ever eat Frankenberry Cereal or Pez...

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

WDW is replacing Rivers of America with Piston Peak. I can think of an alternate spelling. So, the company that replaced grass with astroturf, and took away plastic straws is now celebrating the internal combustion engine (thematically) and off-road racing? Have I got that right? Y’know, I’d...

    All things Universal Studios Hollywood

Yikes, that experience sounds awful! I’m looking forward to seeing how quickly Universal makes it vanish—Which makes me realize the ONLY thing I’ll miss about it is watching the final helix beside the Citywalk pathway. It’ll be weird to not have that there anymore. Maybe Citywalk’s Cinnabon can...

I’m waiting to see it test-running.😃 Right now, if I try to even guess at what it’ll feel like, I can only come up with a blend of Velocicoaster, Cosmic Rewind and Ride To Happiness. 😃

Universal Studios Hollywood vs. Disney's Hollywood Studios

That’s a great goal for them to aim for. Its needs more cohesion and more attractions to handle the crowds. If they wanted to, Disney could really make this park shine. And they need to make Galaxy’s Edge more fun.

Technically they’re shot towers, but, yes, same structure/vehicle/thrill. Still, I do think a mostly enclosed dark ride with vertical drops would fit in fine at the Studios, as long as it has major unique factors that make it a new kind of experience. It would definitely blend well with that...

In Orlando, Rip Ride Rocket closes forever at the Studios park on August 18th. I’m kinda hoping its replacement is more family-friendly, but I’m thinking they probably want to keep a major thrill coaster in all three parks. Whatever it is, I’m certain it’ll look better than RRR. How could it not???

Universal Studios Hollywood vs. Disney's Hollywood Studios

Universal Hollywood for its history, identity, and uniqueness. Disney Hollywood Studios isn’t awful, but at this point… What the heck IS it?

Hip, schmip. It wasn’t long ago that Disney was called foolhardy for making a big-budget pirate movie. (Pre-release, one major entertainment magazine snarkily said, “Haven’t we learned ANYTHING from ‘Cutthroat Island?” (A huge pirate movie flop). Lone Ranger didn’t flop because it was a western...

    All things Universal Studios Hollywood

No. No, no, no. 😃 “Just a bunch of screens” is like saying the Mona Lisa is just a bunch of paint dabs. It’s not the tools and the medium that matter. It’s what you DO with them. I’ll admit that the first time I rode Ministry, I was AT FIRST disappointed to see it used screens… but… The...

Not the kind of risk I want to see. From their POV, I imagine them viewing this as a huge chance to sell plastic cartoon toys. Know what would be a real risk? Expanding Frontierland into the grandest, wildest, most fun and gorgeous Wild West land the planet’s ever seen. With not a cartoon...

Ok. I’m going to keep saying this… I know opinion is divided.. But I swear I find Velicoaster and the way it interacts with the land, lagoon and walkways to be stunningly beautiful. That lagoon skyline as seen from Port of Entry has become iconic. And it has energized that area of JP like never...

Let’s wait to see the final results. I’m very much in favor of cloning attractions for non-overlapping territories.

I think Epic is the start of Universal truly becoming a genuine entire-family destination. And I can’t wait to see what’s in store for IoA and Studios.

Yes. To almost all of it. And… the situation is SO MUCH FUN!!! 😃 Personally, I’m rooting for Universal AND hoping Epic Universe wakes Disney the heck up. I know I’m never going to see Disney at its golden-age best again, I just want them to stop being so uncreative and timid!!!!! I want them to...

    All things Universal Studios Hollywood

I disagree sooooo much. 😃 I think Universal is going to keep expanding and creating awesome attractions and lands in Orlando. The days of Disney getting by with dragging their heels and letting their guest experience deteriorate are—hopefully—over. Or at least… improved? Somewhat? 😃 The Texas...

Lots of good points here. And I’ll just say that I’m aware that I cut Universal way more slack than Disney, mainly because of how I feel (which isn’t great) about what Disney has become as a corporation compared to what they used to be. I have no such emotional ties to Universal. I just love...

    All things Universal Studios Hollywood

I absolutely think they are. Ministry actually outdoes Rise in the scale/awe dept., which is something I wasn’t expecting. I actually like Monsters even more, though; having so many lifelike, incredible AAs getting so close to your vehicle is startling and wonderful. It’s possibly the most...

Scarier than Tatsu and Goliath and much scarier than Riddler’s Revenge. But in a different way— Aside from the moment when you go over the top hat, Velocicoaster isn’t about height—It’s designed to give tons of very forceful ejector airtime and hangtime throughout. Every hill, every twist and...
