    WDW In August...

August was much worse. I was literally soaking wet for most of the August trip, and it wasn't because of rain (although we got that too.) The humidity was noticeably lower during this recent trip, and it just wasn't as hot. We very well may do early June or late May again, but not August!

    Drinking water in Disney

I've never waited in long lines for water or coffee during October or any other time of year, but it depends on where and when you are getting it. We always bring bottled water into the parks, then refill at the fountains. Coffee is available at multiple locations in most parks, but I would...

    Yacht Club

Just got back from BC, but spent quite a bit of time in YC as well as we had friends staying there. YC was definitely more quiet than BC, but there were also a lot of convention folks there in the lobby. The decor is much more formal than BC as well. We had a fantastic experience with the staff...

    WDW In August...

Early August is not great, but late is very nice crowd-wise. We were there last year during the last week of August, and the crowds were not a problem. The heat and humidity, on the other hand, were horrendous (and I'm no stranger to heat/humidity living in middle GA). Weather can also be an...

Spirited News, Observations & Thoughts Tres

I have to say I felt the Wifi service during our trip last week was much improved over previous trips. Of course, all of my work was done in our resort room - I wasn't really trying to access it inside the parks, but I never had any issues there. We did, however, have issues trying to access the...

Pop Century or Port Orleans French Quarter

If you don't mind the price difference, then POFQ hands down. We've stayed at Pop, and honestly liked it for what it is. But, quiet it is not. Also, if you plan on using the bus system, I would steer clear of Pop. That was the one beef we had staying there (thankfully we had our own car and were...

Where in WDW Can You Get Hand-Scooped Ice Cream?

We consumed large quantities of ice cream during our trip a couple of weeks ago! The ice cream place in France pavilion was very good: and Beaches & Cream is totally worth a walk over to BC while you're in Epcot. The wait to sit down is crazy long, but usually the take-out counter isn't too bad.

    Mickey's Xmas Party Questions?

The last time we went was the Friday before Thanksgiving and the crowds were not bad at all. It's a great time to go, and the party was lots of fun. I've found these posts by touringplans to be very helpful in predicting crowds for specific party dates. Generally, the ones right before and after...

    EMH or not EMH?

Also depends on your family and age of your kids. If you can get up and take advantage of early EMH, then do it. But we personally avoid evening EMH parks because a) we have young kids who can't hang that late, and b) the crowds tend to be higher during the rest of the day at those parks.

    Driving vs. Bus

Are you staying a night in Orlando, or just driving back to Daytona when you're done? If you're driving over that morning, and not checking into a hotel in Orlando, then just drive straight to AK. If you get there early enough, you should be able to park fairly close to the entrance and avoid...

    Finally going back! But when?

Early-mid May would be my choice as well. We went the first week of June this year, and the crowds weren't terrible, but got much worse toward the end of the week. I wouldn't go any later than that.

Why Hollywood Studios is being rebuilt

^This. I think it's pretty certain that both of these projects are in the works in some form or another - at least right now. If I've read correctly, it seems that the specifics of each project are what is not certain. Either way, it sounds like the DHS rework is still in the early development...

    A wasted Star Wars weekend....

We had our first SWW visit a little over a week ago on the final weekend, and I feel bad for people who show up not expecting it. If you love Star Wars (or even just "like" it, as we do) it's awesome, but if you go intending to do attractions, etc. it is not fun. Way too crowded. It is well...

    Your Kids and The Barnstormer

It depends on the kid, but I would expect a 4 yo to be ok. My daughter went on Barnstormer at age 2 (almost 3) and did NOT like it. She doesn't like rough/jerky rides, and it is both. She went on Soarin for the first time about a week ago (she's now 3) and loved it, but Test Track was a very bad...

FYI - Anyone adding park days after price increase

Just wanted to report our experience with adding a day of park tickets to our package during last week's trip, in case anyone else needs to do the same. It seems that the recent price increase has thrown a little wrench into the system for upgrading park tickets during your stay. First of all...

Spirited News, Observations & Thoughts Tres

Yes, I agree about the West Wing, and after walking over there to see it after dinner, I was very glad we dined in the main hall. Not just because of the many visitors, but I just didn't care for the way it was done. The whole restaurant was dark, but it was even darker in there.
