There are 2 sets of boats at WL. One set goes to MK only, the other goes to the Contemporary and Ft Wilderness. None go to GF or Poly. WL has buses to MK also.

The main complaint about the bus service at AS resorts has to do with the fact that they share buses between the 3 resorts during all but the busiest times of year, while Pop has a dedicated system. For this reason I would pretty much always choose Pop over the AS resorts.

That week will be a great time for a first trip to wdw! The crowds should be very manageable, and the weather is usually great! The parks will be all decked out for Christmas - it's our favorite time of year to go! I would echo the above from Figgy - get the UG and read it front to back...

We're planning to walk from BCV early in the morning, but then take the boats back during the afternoon. It seems silly to drive to DHS from there, but also don't really want to wait on the boats in the morning when we're trying to get there early.

Yes, I guess I should have been more specific - you can get to Epcot via the Contemporary monorail. We did this once during our stay at WL when we had plenty of time, but as I said it's not the fastest route!

If you are going to stay offsite then I would definitely drive. You won't have the free disney transportation for the most part, and avoid needing to rent a car to get around.
