It actually didn't occur to me that people would complain about the cost of their tickets/hotel compared to VIP. Since VIP also requires tickets and I assumed most people doing it were also staying on site. Though I guess that isn't a requirement.

My guess on Halloween is that they had a higher cap for that to begin with. Or upped it in live time when it "sold out" day of and then they called it a glitch. Aug 10 is absolutely going to be capped for the sake of press. Which means we won't really know about the event capacity until well...

I do wonder what your park ticket buys you if most rides come with an upcharge. But this is my one adult Disney, no kids, trip. So I'm willing to make the most of the short amount of time we get to pack it all in.
