WDW during a Recession / Economic Downturn

It's a lot safer, liability-wise, than driving people around. Part of that liability is your insurance company finding out you are doing commercial work in your car and dropping you off.

The theming is top-notch. That giant (fake) tree in the park is a sight to behold. The Avatar movie zone is very memorable as well. Lots of parks and zoos do have safari-like attractions. The Dallas Zoo has a super cool monorail that goes through the animal zones—almost as cool as the AK...

    Carousel of Progress

Off topic, but not by much, if you like designing theme parks & rides you might consider getting a game called Planet Coaster. I have sooooo many hours in that game making awesome parks and rides. Not surprisingly, you can download rides suspiciously similar to some of the greatest WDW rides...

💯 I'm trolling a little (lot) when I say this, but AK is just a zoo. If you are really into animals, you would be better off going to one of the dozen or more world-class zoos we have around the U.S. (I was a Dallas and Fort Worth Zoo season pass holder for years) We skip (or half-day) AK on...

Spin off of Favorite Rides ! Must do's for WDW Veterans

Hmm,, based on what I have never missed, my list is rather short.... Pirates of the Caribbean Haunted Mansion Space ship Earth Tower of Terror Dinner & Drinks at Epcot (3-4 nights in a week stay) and then an evening stroll around people and place watching. The reset I have skipped from visit...

    pet friendly resorts

This is the number 1 reason I don't get Dogs (or cats for that matter). We travel too much. In my opinion, traveling with pets where they end up in a crate for 6+ hours during the day in a scary place is kinda cruel. Maybe not as bad for a geriatric dog who sleeps all day, but for most dogs its...

Dolewhips suck. ;) ...to me anyway. SpaceMountain is like a masochistic pleasure. It hurts and stresses me out while violating me, but when I climb off, I feel so loose and relaxed. Is the endorphin kick mixed with nostalgia worth the pain? 🥳

WOW - What a week at WDW

Ah yes, the auto gratuity. ...which makes it... something, but not a gratuity. Shameless service fee? Anywho, I have no problem when I am hosting a large party and they hit me with an auto 18%. It is about 7-12% less than I tip anyway, so everybody wins. I say that, once a bill goes over...

    Prices up…profits down…

Anytime you incentivize any sort of shenanigans, people are going to do it. Snake bellys all! I think there is a way to accommodate and NOT incentivize. We just have to figure out the sweet spot.

    Prices up…profits down…

I would argue it is not a burden, and the benefits outweigh the burden 10-fold. Is getting a handicapped parking pass a burden? I mean, I guess it is a little burden, but the benefit makes it worth it. This is an old debate on this board. I have said it before, but I will say it again: if you...

    Prices up…profits down…

Most legit people I talk to support this process. Removes guilt for the legit, eliminates the abusers, and builds credibility for those inconvenienced facilitating the accommodation (if applicable).

    Prices up…profits down…

Quoted for truth. WDW is a luxury-priced vacation, but it is not, in fact, a luxury experience. Sooner or later, that was bound to catch up. Ditching the Magical Express and packing the parks to the gills were my personal dealbreakers related to this phenomenon. Reportedly attendance\demand...

    Cast Member Standards

I am a bit ignorant as I have never worked a theme park, but it has to be better than most retail and fast food no? I would rather sweep vomit off WDW concrete all day than work at Taco Bell. ...which you could argue is sorta the same thing.

    Cast Member Standards

Exactly. It is the proper response to "Thank You". I don't say it otherwise. Completely unsolicited it is flat-out rude, imo.

    Cast Member Standards

"You're welcome" can have multiple meanings based on inflection and tone. English (unlike Chinese) is not super tone sensative.

Well, I mean, you could pay more... but letting standards slip is more certainly more affordable.

I noticed this with the dockworkers union. They are very much against automation of any kind. Dockwork seems like a great place for automation, but what do I know?
