DHS DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

And to me, this is the essence of the problem, and not just with the Walt Disney Corporation. To any publicly traded company, we are not the customer any longer. Wall Street is. TWDC used to have a very clear mission statement - "to make people happy". It's been changed in the last few...

    Another movie shot at WDW

It looks pretty amusing to me. Who doesn't like a good "head in a bag" movie? :p

Main street window for Meg Crofton?

Ugh. How nauseating. I should think the window should be more along the lines of "Crofton & Marley - Accountants"

    Tartans Treehouse HKDL

I can't say that I've ever actually seen anyone pick a leaf off the tree for a souvenir, but I suppose it's possible.

    Tartans Treehouse HKDL

The bamboo scaffolding was up in May when I went. Seems like it's been up for at least a year. I've seen no noticeable change in the treehouse during that time, so I don't know what the scaffolding is for (unless it's just to clean and replace the plastic leaves).

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Look up the Forbes CLEWI (cost of living extremely well index). This measures pricing increase in luxury goods. It has indeed outpaced inflation for the past 25 years, however nowhere near the level of increases in pricing that WDW tickets and hotel rooms have risen. However, looking at the...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

I watched it from DVR last night. I found parts of it to be fairly amusing and entertaining. Some parts were a bit uncomfortable. Too many "The Office" rip offs. It makes me wonder who they are really trying to target as an audience. It sure isn't die-hard muppet fans. My 14 year old son...

DHS DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

Sorry Martin, I made the mistake of poking the bear. I should have known better.

DHS DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

I know you like to play devil's advocate and bring the D&G brigade back to reality, but this is a bit disingenuous. It's fairly easy to look at the actual construction timelines over the past 5-10 years for both Uni and WDW to see that Uni is building things faster. That's hard to dispute...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Completely not surprising. And I'm sure the theater owners and operators who rewrote and misbooked the ticket sales felt that they were doing nothing wrong. They way they would look at it, the system was set up to incentivize them to do it, so any perceived wrongdoing is someone else's fault...

Major 2015 Pirates of the Caribbean Refurbishment Watch/Rumor.

I can't speak for some of the other folks who see a problem with the changes to PotC, but I do agree with some of the "complaints". I don't think it was a bad idea either to look at a classic ride and plus it to make it more exciting and relevant for a whole new generation who have grown up on...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Yep. Some pretty exciting announcements and as a die-hard Disney fan I will love to see all of the new attractions. I put it on my calendar today to plan a trip with my family for 2020. I might have grandchildren by then that will help justify it.

Major 2015 Pirates of the Caribbean Refurbishment Watch/Rumor.

Actually, no. The supposed Danish research (as reported on by the Huffingon Post among other scions of science), has been widely refuted. It's as simple as calories consumed minus calories burned. Not much more complex than that.

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Nice to see it being said somewhere besides the forums (even if it is the Motley Fool). I enjoyed the tag line "Comcast's fast, Disney's furious".

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

It's not just public companies. Most private companies have the same mindset. Once you get a taste of growth, If your CAGR is not getting bigger every year, you are failing.

Correction - the attendance will be what the Chinese say it is.

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Walking around in public in China (on the street, in the subway, in stores) I can still be suddenly shocked by a strong odor (not necessarily eminating from locals). But the one thing I can't stand, and I select my hotels accordingly, is the overpowering citrus/floral perfume that they saturate...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Great post Dave, and spot on. Unfortunately, having worked at the executive level in several Fortune 500 companies, this is the way American corporations operate today. There are very few (count on one hand) executive teams interested in doing the right thing. Most are only interested in what...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

@RSoxNo1 , took me a minute or two two find out which site was yours. Looks nice. Although I looked back through 12 pages or about a year of rumors being tracked on your site, and it was depressing to see how few actually got me interested in a trip to WDW. Some of the most exciting ones are...
