    Grand Floridian Buildings

Had a great stay in Big Pine a few years back. Booked a Garden View, but ended up with a view of the Lagoon (not MK, but Southward towards the Poly, which was great for us). As Tuvalu says, close to both pools and easy to get anywhere. Was good being near the beach when the fire alarm went off...

    which one would you choose?

I'd also vote for Beach Club. Best pool for a ten year old and, although you give up MK proximity, you are walking distance to two of the parks. Was never a fan of the Contemporary. I have stayed at all Deluxes and rank it last.

    Pop Century- best preferred location?

Bit of a strange trip for us in that we usually come down for a week, don't get a car, and carve out a little bit of time to enjoy the resort. This time, the WDW trip is an "add on" because we'll be in FL for other reasons, so we are there for two nights and two days, with a car. Checking in...

    Pop Century- best preferred location?

Booked a preferred room at Pop Century for a short trip in October. I have found maps showing which rooms are considered "preferred," but I'd like to see if there are opinions on whether I should be requesting a specific area or decade. We're not spending a lot of time at the resort (part of...

What's the one thing you HAVE to have on your visit to WDW?

Stole both of my answers! We're kindred eaters, jdnetone!

    Favorite snacks in AK

On the beverage side, I love the Tea cart in Asia. Some really interesting types and a nice "warm up" after getting soaked on Kali on a cool day!

    Your favorites

Ohana is a great choice. Another one of our "staples" is to head over to AKL when AK closes and eat at Boma. In my opinion, it's one of the best all-you-can-eats at WDW, especially if you are a bit of an adventurous eater. Pair it with a flight of South African wines and you're in for a great...

    Gimme one good reason--

For as people on these boards knock EPCOT because the future world side is not as "glorious" as it was in its heyday...still an AMAZING park and needs to be experienced by a WDW first timer. Depending on ages, kids will love Soarin' and Test track, and I think they will find the Seas, Spaceship...

    Favorite WDW Resort Hotel

I'd have to go with AKL...hard to match the atmosphere and the dining is great. Poly is a close 2nd for sentimental reasons, having stayed there as a kid (when the World was MUCH smaller) and then again with my kids.

    Tables in Wonderland being discontinued?

There have been years where I purchased a single AP for a week long stay with my family to take advantage of 1) resort discounts and 2) T in W. Had it not been for #2, I probably would have just gone with the room-only rates available to the general public. So, it's a little Chicken and Egg...I...

    Universal vs. Disney

On the whole, I think DIsney still winds out on most categories, but I say that considering the four parks vs. two, MANY more resorts and restaurants, etc. Value at Disney (and, to a lesser degree, Uni), is a function of length of stay. Cost per day looks a whole lot better after a week than...

    Kali River Rapids

I recall seeing that the original concept of the ride was to have some viewing of live animals (Tigers!), but that ended up not being feasible / practical, so the theme got watered down a bit. It'd be great to add some "indoor" elements to the show with some AA's, similar to the concept art...

    Disney Cravings

Reading this in the morning...I have to put a vote in for Tonga Toast over at Kona. Nothing like that before a quick hop on the monorail to start a day at MK....keeps me full until my late-morning Dole Whip! :)

    Ohana at the Poly

I think they still give them out at the front desk to guests checking in, but I also don;t recall them giving them to Ohana "cousins".

    Grand Floridian VS Polynesian Village

I've had great experiences at both, but Poly is one of my two favorites on property. (along with AKL) ONly time I recommend GF over POly is during the Christmas holiday season...something about the GF, the way they do up the lobby, etc. is just awesome at that time of year. Either way, find a...

Will more rooms open up in October?

Thanks, Polydweller. Not familiar with the symposium. Room issues aside, what affect will this have on parks on Thursday the 8th? I was going to try to get to MK that day before the true madness starts on Friday. Any events I need to be wary of?

Will more rooms open up in October?

Thanks for the quick replies. The approach you both propose makes a lot of sense...I'll look to do that. Thanks.

Will more rooms open up in October?

I've been a WDWmagic reader for a while, but decided to finally register and pose a question to the experts... I usually take week-long trip with my family down to WDW, but I'm going to be making a VERY quick visit to WDW in October (two nights, two days) and am looking for rooms 10/7 and 10/8...
