On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

If we mean Iger pulled a PR stunt where he tried to put himself in a position where he could avoid all blame if his house fell apart while still being in position to take credit if the people left behind managed to right the ship? Then yes, he already quit.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Actually, much if not all of this miserable past quarter is already priced in. The thing that could cause a big drop is guidance that is worse than investors are expecting or if the skeletons that @pheneix has referred to tumble out of the closet.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

If you have kids that are planning to go to college and will need to take out student loans to Do so, you should consider suggesting they at least explore going into a trade. They won’t be saddled with debt for years, can earn a good salary and have better health/retirement benefits than they...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Not sure if that is the case anymore. I have actually have heard people making hiring decisions imply that people who have stayed at the same job for four years lack the drive to advance they are looking for. It is an idiotic line of thought, but It is out there.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

You really have no clue when it comes to contracts, labor law and labor relations. A company offering an extension doesn’t mean a union can’t strike.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I don’t mean my post in a don’t wear mask or social distance way. I just really want to know how long people really expect other people to suppresss what is basic human nature for most. It is coded in our genetics to be a social species.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

I am well aware that is why they are unionized. I support their union. Posters earlier where acting like some big sea change was coming where Disney wouldn’t be able to get enough workers and have to change their pay structure because of that. That isn’t happening. To continue to make...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Everyone who works at the parks agreed to work at the wages they make and has decided to stay their at the wage they make. Should they make more? Sure, but it is still their decision to work there. If enough people would turn down the job or quit, Disney would be forced to increase...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Disney doesn’t need more employees now and won’t for a long time. They can afford to burn off 20% of their current parks employees and be fine. Have you seen the crowds in the parks? Then if they need to add employees in 8 -12 months they won’t have an issue hiring employees. The...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

It Is awful. There are some great things about the DVM area, but it is a better place to visit than live these days. Especially with how much home prices have skyrocketed in the area.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

don’t know if the layoffs happened or not, but the level of the employee would impact the likelihood of them going on social media and talking about it. The higher up they are, the more likely they are to realize it is better to keep that stuff out of your social media to protect your future job...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Word on the street is that at least a couple of the Murdochs have turned on Iger, but even all the Murdochs together though their trust don’t control enough stock to force anything one way or another on their own.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Plus, there is no real need to layoff someone who is already furloughed. Just avoid the bad PR and say you intend to bring them all back as soon as business improves.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

It is pretty obvious at this point that if in fact there were layoffs yesterday, they weren’t among the frontline cast members. That would have been all over social media. If layoffs happened yesterday it was among the management ranks.
