On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Interesting take but Cuomo disagreed with you about quarantines a few months ago https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2020/03/29/rhode-island-repeals-order-targeting-new-yorkers-after-cuomo-threatens-lawsuit/amp/

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

It is well accepted that New York has massively undercounted the amount of deaths among those living in senior/assisted living facilities because New York’s death count only includes those that died at those facilities while excluding those who were transferred to a hospital and died. When you...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

It is very likely that New York has achieved herd immunity amongst their most vulnerable populations. 20% of the population of New York that was living in senior communities and assisted living facility has died of COVID. 1 in 5! So of course their death count has now slowed.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

The Governor of New York was calling it unconstitutional when other states where placing quarantines on people who had been in New York, but now he is all for them.

Why? No outbreaks at WDW among guests or cast members. It don’t see anything that says they should have held up on the reopening.

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

New Fantasyland should have provided the capacity with both rides and space to deal with the increased attendance. Would have everything been a walk on with FP+? No, but FP+ was an artificial restriction placed on ride capacity leading to longer waits.

You are correct. That is what I get for just looking at some headlines and not reading the data. I am guilty of what I just accused others of. While the death rate is up 25.5%, the actual death count is down by 8%. The seemingly conflicting percentages are the result of the dramatic drop in...

Traffic accident fatalities have seen an actual huge spike as people are driving much faster as road congestion has decreased.

It won't be removed until the after the end of year and the CDC finalizes their data.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Nobody is saying anything close to that. We are facing a huge crisis with COVID-19 in this country. When we see an increase in COVID-19 deaths, that means there is an increase in COVID-19 deaths. It doesn't mean that the total count hasn't been inflated to some degree all along by the way...

This is incorrect. Florida tallies their deaths according to the CDC guidelines. If COVID-19 is listed as a possible underlying cause of death it gets added to the count. So in your example the death gets added both to the pneumonia count and the COVID-19 count. After the end of the year...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Actually in most cases COVID-19 will be listed as a possible contributing factor in the death because it is possible that COVID-19 caused that person to die even a day earlier than they would have if they had not developed COVID-19. That death will then get added to the COVID-19 death count.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I don't think hospitals are falsely claiming people are dying of COVID-19. I just don't think we do a good enough job of separating deaths where COVID-19 is listed as possible contributing factor to death from those where COVID-19 was likely one of the main contributing factors to a death.

Who you know and where the person hiring went to school are always more important as you move up the ladder than where you graduated from college ranks. The reason why "Public Ivies" graduates have more success getting jobs is because they have, for the most part, some of the largest alumni...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

If college football happens In the fall, there will be no fans in the stand. That more than a concern about players health is the reason why the Big 10 and the PAC 12 are moving to the spring. They want to make money off fans in the stands.

Must do Disney has been removed

That post wasn't ageism in anyway. It was a response to a post that she would be freaked out by a bunch of old men talking about her. The poster was just pointing that it wasn't a bunch of old men talking about some young college girl. Context matters.

Viruses like this are constantly mutating. They most often mutate into less deadly, but more easily to spread strains. The two most common distinct mutations that have been circulating throughout the US are the Chinese and European version. There is growing evidence that genetics, previous...

I don't like how the district has handled their opening overall, but they do deserve some credit for the level of transparency they are showing when it comes to positive tests and quarantines. I was surprised when I saw that link in the article. That is one thing all districts should do.
