On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

I think the problem with Iger at the end of his time has not been wanting more money or power. A big part of the problem over these last years creatively have been decisions that were made that cost Iger/Disney money so Iger could be better positioned politically. Once Iger got the money it...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

People in this thread today have suggested it, but sure no one suggested it. https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/coronavirus-and-walt-disney-world-general-discussion.963478/post-9517020 https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/coronavirus-and-walt-disney-world-general-discussion.963478/post-9517062

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Shut downs are advocating isolating far more than that.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

A plan like that would never get off the ground because it would be deemed discrimination by too many people. None of the other plans will work either. As soon as you open back-up spread will start again. The virus is too easily spread indoors during casual social gathering, you have way too...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

The problem with mass shut downs and isolation from each other even when done with extreme effectiveness, is it only delays the spread to when you open back up and people start to congregate together indoors.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

It would actually make more sense to isolate the elderly and others with know comorbidities than attempting to isolate the whole world from each other.

EPCOT Reflections of Earth confirmed to be replaced by Harmonious

It might be impossible to do Epcot Forever at this point. Do they have the barges needed for Epcot Forever or have they been retrofitted for HarmoniUS?

A sequel? Nah, not this one

I never said the countries governments had to step up. Morocco is the only pavilion where the government was directly involved in the spending and the Kingdom of Morocco's involvement is the reason all the little details are right. The other countries stepped up with their businesses with the...

A sequel? Nah, not this one

Well then one of those real African countries needs to step up with some money.

A sequel? Nah, not this one

Look at the nod Disney Is giving to African American culture in the parks by replacing theming based on genuine African American folklore with IP with a black princess inserted into German folklore. They are so woke.

A sequel? Nah, not this one

There is only one company that has the cash on hand to make an attractive enough offer to the institutional shareholders. The fact they haven’t shown any inclination to buy Disney to this point probably means it will never happen.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

I played a couple years with a group that had a quasi rec league in which players would come and go at one of our local parks in my younger days. I don't think any of us were particularly good, but it was a lot of fun. A British and a Irish immigrant set it up and were running it back then...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

If it was such a bad structure the people who live off tipping would be the ones demanding the structural change to the salary structure of the business, but they are the ones most opposed to it because they know it will mean a big pay cut for most of them. It is why servers quit en masse at...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

A current tip actually isn't a subsidy. It encourages people that otherwise wouldn't get into or stay in the profession to do so. Because providing excellent service will result in greater monetary reward than what a higher established hourly wage would. The higher hourly wage is actually the...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

If Europeans don't want to tip, they should pay 20% more for their food and drink in the restaurant. The expectation of tipping reduces your meal and drink costs by at least that much. If you really care about people like servers and bartenders financially, you don't want to get rid of...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

I don’t think the college program ever comes back as big as it was. Disney saved some money, but they learned those kids could be took away on a school’s whim. People need to remember that before the parks closed it wasn’t Disney decision to shut the program down. It was made for them by the...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

They won’t start laying off park cast members until March. They have already agreed to pay for their health insurance until then and it isn’t costing them anything more to have them called furloughed instead of laid off. So they will avoid the PR hit that official layoffs of regular park cast...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

I agree with you on that, but I never said it was unconstitutional. I only pointed out that Cuomo had called them unconstitutional when applied to New Yorkers prior to his own implementation of quarantine orders on people from other selected states.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

I am not trying to make an issue out of how New York dealt with residents of senior/assisted living homes. I only suggested that the numbers suggest that New York may have achieved herd immunity amongst its most vulnerable population. You wanted to know how I arrived at my numbers and the...
