Soarin' Expansion and new Soarin' Around the World film

Have they installed the digital projectors because the EPCOT version from the video seems dark in comparison to both the Shanghai and DCA versions?

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

Are the other 3 parks competing for those funds, or is it pretty much set in stone how much will go to each park (as a total of the entire WDW WDI budget)? I mean, for example, could some funds be taken from DHS redevelopment phase III to make the EPCOT budget bigger and could some of that $350...

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

@marni1971 So, I take it that what they have on the drawings boards right now is more of a plan that could be split up into multiple projects, rather than a single mega project, right?

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

Well, Splash is the exception to the rule at DL. I've only rode it once (during my last trip) and it looked like it was beyond disrepair. The MK version is far superior and it will probably stay that way. At least we have a few things that are superior over the DL versions - Splash and Tower of...

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

It's a Small World is a good example of a ride where the props constantly fall apart. I would never recommend a digital replacement of IaSW because that is such a classic, but Imagination's condition was similar to the state IaSW constantly gets into. For the record, I've never seen DL's version...

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

What happened to that cool FW pic that was just posted? I was about to comment that about the pic's amazing symmetry of color, with the blue on the LS pavillion on the left and the red, orange, and yellow on the UoE pavilion on the right. I never noticed such symmetry and balance before. It...

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

First of all, the budget is $350 million, not a billion. So, we have to make the best of it. We should also feel grateful that they gave WDI such a big budget. For argument sake, let's say that $350 million could bring Future World back to how it was was during the 1980's, do we really want...

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

You know that the original park cost $1.5 billion in 1982 dollars, right? To rebuild it to its original glory in today's dollars would be catastrophic.

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

Just found this article about Project Gemini... https://blog.modernmouseradio.com/2012/11/03/the-world-that-never-was-time-racers/ According to the article, Project Gemini had a budget of $500 million. Adjusted for inflation, what is that today? Any way, this new project of $350 million is...

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

How do we know that maybe that was just a rough outline of what they were thinking? With the details to be worked out as they go?

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

I take that as meaning that the changes could possibly be to more than the three pavilions I mentioned. Of course, anything could change at any time, but the gears are in motion for change. Fingers are crossed.

DisneySea for TDL and Neverland for MK

Two ideas just came to me at once: DisneySpace for TDL and Neverland for MK! DISNEYSPACE would be TDL's third park. Get it? Land, Sea, and Space? This is where Tokyo's Star Wars Land and Avatar Land could go. They could also retheme Space Mountain in Tomorrowland into a Tron ride and create a...

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

He specifically said he was blown away by the scale of the project. This was my reaction as well when I saw what they were planning with DHS. The budget here is a fraction of what the DHS budget is, but it's the same as what RSR at DLR cost. EPCOT already has all the infrastructure in place, so...

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

If Disney comes through with this, I take back half my recent criticism about the company! :) With all these big projects being approved all of a sudden, this is no Mickey Mouse operation!

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

@marni1971 - Could you say if the plans for EPCOT tie into the plans for DHS (i.e. a "connection") (without going into any detail)? You can answer "yes", a definite "no", "maybe", "it's possible", "it's impossible", "time will tell", "it's been discussed", "I'm not at liberty to discuss this"...

Verdict is in! Monorail expansion is $100 million per mile

Monorail has always been an uphill battle at WDW. I remember a story that the company which designed the Contemporary was less than exited about that "carnival ride" Disney planned on running through it.
