    Why hate the GF?

Yeah I think like others have said, it is nice, but the costs are astronomical. But, Disney charges those rates because they can. Demand drives prices. That resort, even more so than the other monorail loop resorts, is in constant demand. That being said, even regardless of the prices, AKL is...

Tower of Terror effects status watch

I used to work at ToT (retail, in the gift shop/photo sales) back in 2002 so rode it more times than I could count. Have since ridden it nearly every year, including recently. Being that I've ridden it so much and experienced it inside and out (literally), I do notice bad show, poor audio, etc...

Getting in the mood for your trip

We do a lot depending on what we're doing on our trip. For example, this time we're spending a day at UO to do the new Harry Potter stuff, so we've watched some of the old HP movies. Mostly though, we rewatch some of our old trip videos, WDW TV specials (like Travel Channel specials), and I even...

    Sunglasses?

I was a CM in 2002, so I'm sure things have changed a bit since then, but I don't recall being allowed to wear sunglasses. I worked mostly indoors (gift shops at RnR and ToT) but did work in the sun occasionally and would have loved to have some sunglasses. Again, things may have changed or I...

    Living with the Land Scenes

I really enjoy LwTL and like you the little show scenes early on are my favorite part. I actually think they hold up well without any complicated AAs or projection effects. From Disney's standpoint, for updates/upgrades (not talking about fixing problems or issues with bad show, just cosmetic...

Is the Grand Floridian really that Grand?

I've never been a huge fan of GF. The lobby/atrium is beautiful and impressive. Everything about it is nice. But it just seems too stuffy for my taste. If I'm going to fork out the money to stay in a monorail loop deluxe, I'm going with Poly.

Name an attraction/ride that's better NOW than the past

Hmmm, interesting question. I'd definitely go with Stitch.....:hilarious: ha OK sorry JUST KIDDING. Couldn't help myself. Seriously though, I'd say: Space Mt - Recent upgrades to the queue, lighting, sound, etc. took it the next level IMO. ToT - Random drop sequences. Boom. Star Tours - HD...

Tickets for 1 park....1 section ONLY.

I think I'd go with MK - Tomorrowland. Space Mt sells itself, but also the TTA, CoP, etc. But biggest of all for me, the nostalgia factor. Going back to when I was a kid, we'd always make a beeline straight for SM at rope drop, and TL was always my favorite section of the park.

    Any recent word on Maelstrom?

Pretty bummed that we are getting there just after it closes (our trip is 10/9-10/14). Would have loved to have one more ride on it. Sure it's cheesy and outdated, but I still love it!

What ride would you like to see refurbished?

I will say, WDW's version does have a scare factor that DL's slicker version lacked. I'm a huge fan of the single seater bobsled coaster cars at WDW. Really make you feel out of control.

What are your favorite "rare" Disney park characters?

Not sure if he's ever been out for a regular park meet n greet, but I'd have to go with Elvis Stich.

What ride would you like to see refurbished?

In order of preference: GMR - I'd say they could keep the general concept, but scrap everything else. Needs a new ride system, scrap the old MGM flicks, etc. I'd say from a technical standpoint, something along the lines of Spiderman/Transformers. Not the same system, as UO has done that to...

DAK James Cameron outlines 'Avatar' as Disney World attraction

I think this land is going to be incredible. Say what you want about the plot, story, acting, etc. in Avatar, the visuals were astounding and should make for an incredible visual and thematic experience in a park setting. What I find to be the most interesting though, of course, is the...

    Forbidden Journey looking shabby

Does anyone know if the new projectors are 4K? I know that FJ that just opened in Universal Japan has the 4K projectors and Spiderman recent got them. Makes a huge difference IMO.

    UO Vacation Planning Question

@StageFrenzy Yeah we are doing both parks in one day. It is a lot, but when been to UO a lot over the past 10 years so we've done most everything quite a bit. The main things were coming to see are all the new things since we were last there in 2011, the new HP stuff, Transformers and Simpsons...

Disney World Mistakes *gasp* Is that possible?

The bigger continuity error in CP is the fact that the kid in the final "future" scene is playing a virtual reality game from the 1990s. o_O Trying to think of other errors. This one isn't so much an error as a lapse in theme/concept. The placement of RnR. Originally, DHS was designed as a time...

    Animal Kingdom Lodge

This is my favorite resort and it has our favorite restaurant as well (Jiko). Note, if you eat at Jiko, order the Filet and Mac N Cheese. The filet is still on the menu, but not with the Mac N Cheese. It is something from years ago. But they will still do it as a special order. And it is...

    Terminated.....possibly(most likely)

I did the CP back in 2002. When I first started, I got sick as well (they called it the Florida Flu), and I'm from South Carolina so I'm used to the warm weather. Still, the intense humidity and tropical climate can definitely be a shock to a lot of people when they first move there. I'd be...

Loews Sapphire Falls to open in summer 2016

Agreed that it looks nice, even pretty, but doesn't seem to do much to differentiate itself from a theming standpoint. Looks more like an Orlando area higher-end Hilton or something, which isn't a bad thing. Just surprised by the sort of soft theming. That being said, it's just concept art. Hard...
