Height balloons, this time between TTC and Contemporary

The monorail went by too quickly to snap a pic that was worth anything, but today (5/23) they were flying high test balloons between the ttc and the contemporary. The highest balloon it wasn't as high as the contemporary but it was close. The mystery deepens.

    Soundsational?

Absolutely correct on all points. Sorry, didn't really mean to imply that parades are fully non-union. Everyone is union at WDW, there are bajillions of them represented it seems. I simply meant non-performer union. Teamsters are a poor choice to represent the arts, IMO. And you raise a good...

    Soundsational?

It is sort of a double edged sword. The unions are protecting their performers. Asking someone to do certain things requires the correct compensation. If Disney really wants their performers to do something, they have to play by the rules. Therefore the balance between parks is off because the...

    Soundsational?

Close. The union that covers Disneyland's performers is AGVA, which has far looser rules than Equity (WDW's performer's union) for what constitutes a "parade dancer" and a "show dancer." Parade dancers in both parks are non-union, so it is not a case of WDW being cheap. AGVA does not consider...

    Soundsational?

Most of TDL's parade floats these days are designed for their wide walkways, and would never fit on the MK's narrow streets.

Disney Parks Time Of your Life Song from the 2009 Add?

I have the audio of the Corbin Bleu version (the one played after We Go On) in a clean version, it was available as a free download a few years back. PM me and I can send it to you.

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks (Part II)

This poor man. I'm sure he had a different ambition when he arrived at the Disneyland auditions. The remarkable thing is that someone actually WROTE this.

PHOTO - Sounds Dangerous removed from park maps, replaced with ABC Sound Studio

It does okay. Nothing earth shattering, but decent numbers especially in higher season. I agree with the Star Wars attraction. Kill the Indy show and make it Indy Adventure, and you have an instant Lucasland. At the very least, make the old Sounds Dangerous a replica of the Mos Eisley...

PHOTO-Fantasy Forest gets more "Forest" Monday, May 7

According to a friend in the holiday department, they take most of that half-year downtime inspecting/replacing every last bulb on all that netting. (Talk about a mind-numbing job!)

Duffy merchandise proves to be extremely popular - purchase limits coming into effect

And we have the sacred Oriental Land Company to thank for his invasion. I agree with ALL of this. I also agree that any purchase limits are definitely NOT due to consumer demand. Just last year they gave a Duffy to every single cast member as a "gift" (meaning they overestimated his demand and...

    MK Little Mermaid Ride Adjustments

Well said, raven. I'd also like to add that I'm sure a portion of the decision to revamp DCA was due to its underperformance financially, which is esentially an effect of the local market speaking with their wallets. There isn't much of that problem in Orlando. It's a tough situation at TDO. It...

    Fantasmic!

Saw it tonight and everything worked. A few low pyro didn't fire but it was quite windy. Even the torches on the canoes all fired up.

VIDEO - Take a look inside the stunning ballroom of the 'Be Our Guest Restaurant'

Allowing for some artistic license doesn't always equal selling out. Sleeping Beauty castle, (in either incarnation) and Cinderella Castle look basically nothing like the film depictions. They're loved and adored nonetheless. If it was a replica of the movie it would somehow be criticized fot...

    Notes/Observations...

Agreed x100. Tokyo still has the old Tomorrowland and it's truly horrible. Looks like the mall from my hometown that closed down 10 years ago because it was irrelevant and empty. I like MK and DLP for design. Content is another story, though...

VIDEO - Behind the walls tour of the new Fantasyland expansion

I'm inclined to agree. Carsland is phenomenally beautiful, but it always bugged me that the whole land is based on just one of the weaker Pixar movies. Plus I hate the name. Had it been called Route 66 and incorporated a Cars attraction with other nods to Californian and US highway culture, it...

    Princess Fairytale Hall

Plus if you read closely, with the possible exception of the mysterious AA figures in the queue at DL, only ezteriors were made more lavish. The actual greetings seem to be the same. Seeing that the locations are totally different, it makes sense to have the MK princess hall be similar in tone...

    Updates on Kilamanjaro Safaris Refurb?

Wow, I rode on the last day of the poacher storyline and didn't even know it. It will be sad to see the geysers go, they really are beautiful, and were all working perfectly. The rest is no real loss. Though it probably didn't help that my driver was clearly so bored with his job he could barely...
