That area was originally full of pink gobo projection lights in the original 80’s versions.

She was always behind/above the rider inside the cylinder, you could only see her if you looked behind yourself. I believe she was eye level when you first entered the room. This is what the station cylinder/window looked like before everything was blacked out:

They were probably scrapped around the same time as Disneyland’s because the chlorine was having an effect on them and I believe there were several incidents of men trying to swim out to them.

To my knowledge Living Seas never had seagulls until the Nemo refurb, before that it was just the crashing waves.
