The Epcot episode of Behind the Attraction is now available and includes some decent behind the scenes footage of SSE. Nothing too significant but I noticed a map of the 94’ version and a good photo of the star projection ball:

Cronkite was actually introduced shortly before the ride began in the 86’ version during the AT&T spiel however none of the other narrators were introduced which probably led to the years long confusion about the Vic Perrin version.

I thought the roof only got repainted not replaced?

Apparently the Vic Perrin narration got a mention during a SSE presentation at Retromagic. I can’t seem to find any recordings though

It was recently announced that Epcot will have an episode in the next season of Behind the Attraction. Here’s hoping we get more rare SSE footage like we did with The Imagineering Story.

There’s a scissor lift up there from what I’ve heard. All those oddly shaped plywood cutouts you see are remnants of the forced perspective moon surface that was scraped early on, not sure why they built it up so high on the right though.
