    Monorail Automation Testing

The Mark IV replacements weren't linear either. The first MVI delivered to WDW was Blue in '89 and the last was Coral in '93. There were times where two of the came color trains overlapped in operation.

    Monorail Automation Testing

You might be thinking of the two old WDW Mark IV trains that were originally used there. From what I understand they were phased out after a short while and replaced with what they're running currently.

    Monorail Automation Testing

My guess is this is something they had to do. All newer monorail type vehicles out there are pretty much autonomous. So if they were to purchase new trains instead of retrofitting the current, they probably couldn't run with the new with the old in a transition period. With retrofitting the...

    Monorail Automation Testing

As others have already alluded to the automation implementation in no way increases or decreases the already extremely low chances of something like this happening. The Monorails are an extremely safe means of transportation.

Does everyone get the WBI offer?

Another thing I just recalled - I remember there being a lot of repeat questions as well. I think they were also getting a feel for how one is treating the web based interview. I.e., not selecting random answers.

    Monorail Automation Testing

From what I understand today is more than just a test.

    Internal Transfer Question

I agree that the transfer genie will not allow it however it is possible - I've done it personally during my program. But that's neither here nor there. Anything is possible if you keep an open dialog with your manager(s).

Does everyone get the WBI offer?

Back when I applied for the CP I remember it being standard protocol. Best of luck

    Internal Transfer Question

Back when I was a CP I was actually able to transfer to another area while still in the CP about 2 months in. So, I guess anything is possible. I'm not sure what the current requirements are, but if its something you want to do I say go after it. Worst that can happen is they say no. And that...

    Monorail update

To preface, I've been out of the department for over 6 years now so my info is a bit dated. But when I was there, like was already said each train had their own personality. These personalities can change slightly due to ongoing maintenance and various components being upgraded/replaced/etc. So...

Advice on applying for the DCP?

First of all it is extremely important to take financial aid and your graduation track into consideration. And I'm not trying to downplay that at all. BUT...if its something you really want to do, go for it. It certainly won't hurt to apply. For me personally, the experience far outweighed the...

Lilly Belle Update and monorail update

I haven't heard anything new...been over 6 years since I worked there and almost 5 since I visited. I am happy to hear Lilly Belle is back...

    Monorail Teal and Corral Update

The trains involved in the 2009 collision were Pink and Purple. Teal is made up of cars 1-5 of Pink and car 6 of Purple. Peach is made up of cars 1-5 of Purple and car 6 of Pink. Only thing different about the two trains are car 6. Coral was involved in the November incident with a work tractor...

Heads up! Express Monorail beam closures on Tuesdays starting 4/12!

I find it hard to believe they would make it completely automated and still require somebody in the cab. I would also think if there were an emergency, you would want the CM on board to be familiar enough with the controls so they can work through any situation that may arise. We shall see.

    College Program Monorail Position

Congrats on being accepted into the College Program - you're going to have a blast. I was in the CP in 2010 and was placed in Monorails. So many things have changed since I was there but still hope you find my responses helpful. Piloting: As far as piloting goes it really depends on the...

Monorail Black to get Star Wars promo window decoration

To my knowledge, yes, but as far as I know this was not done. Coral for example, before the TRON wrap it had a terrible pain job with the Coral stripe very sloppy and different shades in places. When the TRON wrap came off, only the roof and cabs were repainted (since they were painted that dark...

Monorail Black to get Star Wars promo window decoration

Just my .02 but I'm never a fan of using the monorails as moving billboards.

    Monorail Update January 2015

I think that ship has sailed...if you look at one of my earlier posts, there is a YouTube video of Orange entering Contemporary. They replaced one of the "co-pilot" seats with an equipment cabinet. I assume its a permanent thing.

    Monorail travel direction

Pretty much. Power to the beamway is also cut quite a ways back, so even if you're overriding you can't go beyond where they turn off power. When a train loses power it also triggers an e-stop, and even if it didn't you won't have enough momentum to get anywhere near the switch. So again...
