So why weren't there many strollers back in the day?

I think so. In my experience the scale of likelihood of being bumped/tripped goes like this: Least Likely to be bumped by: Strollers Mid-level likelihood to be bumped by: Scooters Most likely to be bumped by: People (including by their backpacks.)

So why weren't there many strollers back in the day?

It's interesting looking back at those old 1970's photos/videos--there's just LESS stuff in general around the people walking around. There's actually people walking around with NOTHING slung over their backs or looped around their arms. And any strollers seem to just have a kid in them (not a...

So why weren't there many strollers back in the day?

Warning: this is yet another 'when I grew up' post  In my memory when I was growing up the last thing I wanted to be associated with was 'baby stuff', which would have included strollers. By the time I was a 'regular walker', I think I would have been horrified to be seen with my baby...

    WDW Attractions & Claustrophobia

Yeah, the combo of the tightly packed crowd and the darkness of HM stretching room kind of freaks me out a bit too. I just try to think how there's no way Disney is gonna keep us trapped in here. Imagine the bad publicity???? 'Disney traps guests in pitch black Haunted Mansion Stretching Room...

So why weren't there many strollers back in the day?

Haha-$10.00 per day Regular Stroller Parking Pass, $20.00 for Priority Stroller ParkingPass? . Kinda sad that I can actually see this becoming reality! Good points. And (side note alert ahead)--Coddled, babied kids grow up to be employees in the workforce; where they expect to be coddled and...

So why weren't there many strollers back in the day?

This is absolutely true! Though I think kids also became more sedentary as our world got more (at least seemingly so) unsafe. As a kid we were 'let loose' every summer day and parents encouraged this. Maybe go home for lunch, or to a friends. Days were spent roller skating, bike riding, and...

So why weren't there many strollers back in the day?

Haha! Great point...the 'umbrella stroller' of the mid/late 70's was small and convenient! No cup holders, no shopping bag carrier, no phone charger built in. (). Yeah, it was a little top heavy when the child was in it. I remember my brother leaning forward and tipping the stroller...

How long before we start seeing tattoos on Disney CM's?

Along same lines, my friend did the Disney college program back in the late 80's. She said at that time cast members weren't allowed to have highlighted hair. Which is so weird, even back then I remember highlights being pretty mainstream.:rolleyes:

My Unpopular WDW Opinion - post yours!

Right????!!!! Speedway has lived long LONG beyond it's shelf life! :bored: We rode the Railroad around MK in January, was shocked to look down over Tomorrowland and see this still operating. I feel like Peoplemover can get away with with sticking around based on it's retro, vintage kind of...

    CanaDisneyland??? It could happen!

 Wow--I guess it was quite a while ago that these plans were scrapped! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney%27s_America At least based on Wikipedia it seems there was some real thought that this project was going to move forward (got far enough in the planning to detail the nine lands)...

    CanaDisneyland??? It could happen!

Sort of related...wasn't there some talk (or at least rumor) a few years ago of Disney building in Virginia? Virginia is warm at least....

"Do not disturb" signs being removed from resort rooms

Thanks for posting the follow up! I had both security AND housekeeping when I was at POFQ in January. Maybe they realized this was ridiculous/overkill and abandoned that plan. Seems that one or another is enough for CYA purposes-for sure. Plus, you're right, no one wants all these people...

Time to upgrade to moderates suggestions?

Here's another vote for POFQ! -Smaller size, short walk to the (one) bus stop and food court -Boat to Disney Springs -Short, enjoyable walk along the river to Riverside -Can use all the amenities at Riverside (also: Riverside has a table service restaurant, FQ does not.) -Really pretty grounds...

Magic Kingdom Meet and Greet footage from the 1970's

Back in the day when the Mickey was just roaming around the park! (And seemingly alone with no 'handler' glued to his side!)

    1st TIME TO DISNEY!!!

I think some of the best advice you have been given here so far is to build a break into each park day. Staying on-site gives you this flexibility. Going back to the hotel in afternoon for lunch, some pool time or a nap will make for a much more pleasant evening (even just for adults!) It's one...

Room Location At POFQ For Mid July 2018

It's true that wherever you stay in POFQ you are never going to be THAT far from the bus stop/food court. Still, for one of the closest buildings with a river view I would look at #5. We stayed here (pool view) in January-it's a very short walk to the front of the resort. The #5 building also...

What is The Weirdest/Funniest Thing That You've Seen at Disney?

Yup. Check out the 'People of Walmart' site.

    Cancel or not?

:cool::cool::cool:Absolutely GO! As this is a discussion forum there's always going to be poster perspectives of changes, what's working, not working etc. I know after my last trip (January) I posted about my what I feel are not-so-good changes at Disney. Still, I'm glad I went, had a...

How many bags do you take on vacation?

You can absolutely do it! 4 days is the perfect amount to (comfortably) go carry-on! I used to be an overpacker too-but made the change to minimalist packing a couple years ago. I've found carry-on only to be much less stressful! No dealing with baggage claim or worrying about just WHEN the...

    Mousekeeping Opt Out

Right now it seems to be a regular thing they offer. Check in desk had an at-the-ready document to show us with a chart of days staying and how much that would equal in opt-out gift card dollars.
