MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

It's kind of surprising to me ventilation isn't an issue in all the dioramas and tunnels in the castle parks. That Disneyland diorama tunnel is almost three football fields long!

This is the vibe I was imagining for an underground Railroad station inside the mountains of Villains Land...

MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

A Villains Land railroad station could be fantastic, maybe something weird like in a cave/underworld, almost like a subway station. In fact, maybe Magic Kingdom could get a diorama like Disneyland and Tokyo/Paris out of the project.

    What's Missing from Avenger's Campus?

I want to like Avenger's Campus at DCA. And with two more attractions coming, I want to be excited. So I've been wondering "what is Avenger's Campus missing?" that would make me fall in love with this land? And for the purposes of this post, I don't mean Attractions, Retail, or Restaurants. I...

Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

Yes, the building materials all look to be the usual go-to materials you see in every airport or convention center nowadays. Heck, the trusses above Stark Flight Lab can be seen at Costco. It's kind of brilliant the way they've interpreted their comic book IP in such a generic, everyday way...

Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

I looked back on Fresh Baked's coverage of Galaxy's Edge construction and here are some progression images of the RotR show building. The first one seems like where Infinity Defense will be at in the next few weeks to month. This would suggest the exterior of the show building is about 18 or so...

Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

I doubt they were visible in A Bug's Land, there was a lot of surrounding foliage (and so great! I loved it then with my small kids and going back and looking at videos...wow...the landscaping, rockwork -- simulated dirt -- and placemaking were outstanding. But I digress). The power lines have...

Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

I just hope this new building blocks the sight of the power lines. And if not, Disney should get the city (or power utility's) permission to paint the towers red and gold and add some thematic doo-dads to them to make them part of the theme...as if they're bringing the juice necessary to run...

Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

The attractions will be "fine" I think. But by continuing the generic, pristine contemporary office park aesthetic (complete with sunny Southern California planters outside...sheesh), I think the land will continue to feel empty and soulless -- for lack of a better term. What it needs is...

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

Totally. He changed jobs??? Clearly an irredeemable a-hole. Rumor is he doesn't even call his mom every Sunday. If you have something to say, go ahead. An anecdote? A comment he made at a panel discussion? Some commentary about one of his projects...?

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

This seems hurtful and if it's just something you "heard" maybe it's not worth posting.

MK New Beak and Barrel - Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge

The two non-alcoholic drinks seem like they're heavy and for kids (cookies, cake and caramel popcorn...). I guess that tracks with the pirate birthday party vibe I got from some of the design elements. I don't see an adult non-alcoholic beverage (like a Pineapple Ginger shrub). There's a lot of...

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

Agree, many seem like intern-age and they look to be running projects at, arguably, the most elite creative institution on the planet. Weird. But hardly ever seeing Imagineers in their 50s or 60s, it's creepy and off-putting to me, and it evokes Ageism. How can an organization that's over 70...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

The HM is a tricky aspect because without the river, the orientation of the mansion is unhelpful. Ideally, it should be rotated to face the south so it's a better readable "weanie" during the walk from Liberty Square proper -- the land it belongs to (despite the 18th/19th century time-period...

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

The AI art in the Madame Leota gift shop was so beyond the pale, so outside the realm of what's "acceptable" in Disney creative work, it was jaw-dropping for many people familiar with the company, its legendary creative prowess, and brand-association with quality. It was disgusting. There's no...

Will Disneyland have a new attraction for its 75th anniversary? If so what will it be?

There are a few attractions or defunct buildings in Tomorrowland that could get rethemed or reactivated, such as the Innoventions building or Magic Eye Theater, or BLAB and Star Tours, with minor disruption and an under-2-year timeline. A larger, but still moderate scope expansion project I can...

Walt Disney – A Magical Life

I am completely bogged down in New Orleans Square still being incensed by the cheap blight that is the Madame Leota gift shop. I can't also get involved in this Walt Disney thing. You guys go on without me.

DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

Animation Courtyard should become Halloween Town / Nightmare Before Christmas, with a classic Haunted Mansion / Mystic Manor style dark ride. Seeing the passion for Villains Land (and all things dark, including over at Universal with Dark Universe and HHN), a dark-vibe land at DHS would be very...

MK New Beak and Barrel - Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge

Well put. If the back bar was built as realistic cabinetry with alcoves and columns and cabinet doors and therefore felt believable and immersive as an 18th century tavern in the Caribbean...but then when the special effects lights go on and the alcoves reveal themselves as glowing eyes and nose...
