Resort planning for us and mom-in-law

The Art of Animation resort will be open by then. That would be cheaper than 2 value resort rooms.

    New Year's Eve Announcement?

I would be fine with an announcement that all coffee on property will be replaced with Dunkin Donuts coffee. I can't stand Nescafe.

    Adding someone to a reservation

Just call your travel agent and they should be able to take care of everything for you. The extra person in your room will also have to get park tickets since that is a free dining package requirement.

    Driving to WDW from NY

We drive from Philly. Generally we leave around 3 am to get past DC by 6. This way you miss the rush hour traffic. I can usually get us onto Disney Property by 7 pm. The only traffic we normally hit is on I4 through Orlando. Bring snacks and sandwiches for the ride. Portable DVD players...

    Own Car vs. Disney Transportation??

You can get some great rates on rental cars if you look hard enough. There are always tons of discount codes out there. I don't recommend driving to Magic Kingdom because you have to park at the TTC.

Possible to book a trip in 3 months notice?

You can totally plan a trip 3 months out. There are some great discounts out there for Feb 2012.

    First time staying on-site!

If you are arriving before normal check in time, I would definitely do online check in before you get there and let them know you are arriving early. Every time we have done this, our room has been ready.

Where in the World are you eating on Christmas Day?

I would go with O'hana since we usually spend Christmas dinner with our cousins. Or 50's Prime Time.

    Online check in question

I've done it for DVC reservations too. I don't think they have any restrictions on who can use the online check in service.

    Contemporary Resort or Polynesian Resort

Poly has Tonga Toast and Capt'n Cooks is open 24 hours

    Vouchers to redeem for tickets?

You can buy tickets through Travelocity that way. As long as they are a reputable dealer, you should be fine. But most discount ticket sites are for the longer tickets.

    Annual Passholder - Resort Booking

Many travel agents, especially Disney Earmarked Agents, will automatically check for discounts after you book with them. Book the room you want now, then when the discounts come out, you can have it changed. Just make sure you find one that doesn't charge a fee.

    Dilemma

There is a 5K the last weekend in February. If you always wanted to try a Disney Race, that might be a good one to do.

The most you've paid for flights...

We usually pay around $200 a person (including fees) for Philly to MCO. Anything over $300 a person, I would probably just drive. We leave at 3 am and are in the World by dinnertime. Check with your local travel agent because they should have access to special rates that you do not have...

    Disney's vero beach resort

I would definitely rent a car to get there. That way you can adventure outside of the resort for some other activities and restaurants. We like hanging out at Capt'n Hirams in Sebatian (about 10 minutes away). Also check out the treasure museum in Sebatian as well. It will change the way you...

    Road Trip Food?

We usually stop at the last Wawa in VA to pick up some ice tea. Another good snack/meal for kids are Uncrustables. They can be found in the frozen aisle. The night before you leave, just take the box out of the freezer and they will be perfect for a mid morning snack or lunch. When we drove...

    Online Check In Complete

I love online check in and recommend it for all my clients. When you get off of Magical Express along with 10 other families, it really pays off. I've also noticed that if you let them know you will be arriving early in the day, they generally already have your room ready for you. The last 3...

Help to save my holiday please!!!

We have used undercover tourist for our past few trips and they are great. If you subscribe to the mousesavers newsletter, there is a link that will save you even more. I would highly recommend them. I think I have a copy of the newsletter. If you want me to email it to you, just pm me and...

    Helpful hints for character greetings

When the park first opens, everybody is so set on getting to the attractions, they just run past the characters. This especially happens at DHS. Have Dad go to straight to Toy Story Mania for Fastpasses while Mom and the kids hang out by the Hat and meet all the characters.

    Early Breakfast - Transportation?

The other option is to take a cab. Depending on your party size, this can be a simple and fairly cheap option. Your resort can call one for you. You could also call ahead if you have a big party and get a quote/minivan cab too.
