1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

In Harbortown and in Outbound’s proposal, I don’t think knowledge of the backstory is as necessary as in your proposal... if this was its own park, my vote would be yours everyday because I think it’s a super cool idea, but I think throwing a nuanced story per land at guests, especially when...

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

Interesting... @mickeyfan5534 is this a possibility we could use?

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

But then it feels like the story would almost need to be known for the land to make any sense... like in most lands (that aren’t IP centric), the backstory just enhances the experience but doesn’t define it. Granted, a lot of this is going to come down to park design philosophies, but I feel...

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

This is true... and something else to consider is size... if there’s like 4 sub lands, each of them is going to have to be tiny or else Adventureland is gonna be massive, like on a scale that may be disproportionate to the rest of the park

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

I think it could be done for sure, although I’d say it makes sense to have it being like in the back corner of Adventureland so that there’s not really confusion about land transitions or whatever

    I really like this idea!!

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

This is a great original idea, but I think we isolate a large part of the family demographic by making a full blown horror land

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

I understand the appeal for no IPs, but it’s really tough to do that in a land like this as opposed to a Frontierland or Tomorrowland or something like that in my opinion. Because of that, I think we should try to use mostly IPs that haven’t been used in Adventureland, especially in the domestic...

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

Ooh that’s an interesting way to combine the two... just wondering how possible it would be to convey a mirage versus a full land transition lol

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

I like the creativity, but I don’t know that there’s enough there to make a full land, and also, I don’t know how appealing a desert land would be to guests compared to something more tropical?

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

Definitely agree... a variation on the jungle cruise could be an option with all the different creatures associated with Mysterious Island, if that’s allowed lol And man, how did we forget a train station hahaha

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

I think this would be really cool... there’s enough with Verne that isn’t futuristic that we could tie in stuff there

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

If we wanted to go on the fantastical route, then I like the idea of tying in Verne’s Mysterious Island... if we wanted different, non-Disney IPs as the pirates, Treasure Island is an option too

1986 - The House of the Future: Week 2

I love this idea! Although it does mean that we’d be taking Adventureland in a far more fantastical route than usual, which is fine, but it’s worth considering

1986: An Imagineering Competition - Hub Thread

Thanks Jokers! The restaurant is intended to be completely outdoors with real trees and canopies covering each seating area... it’d be an extra challenge on landscapers probably, but I think it’d be cool lol. As far as the menu goes, you’re probably right haha... I didn’t think about the...

1986: An Imagineering Competition - Hub Thread

Amid the wooded central hub of Port Voyage, there lies a premier experience like no other: Greenwood. Greenwood represents a change in pace from the bustling Harbortown that guests have just left to a calmer, more natural environment. The restaurant is more than a place to eat, although the...
