Touring Plan Question for US and IoA

You should be OK. I would do US first since is closes earlier. If wait times are long I would recommend purchasing an Express Pass for one or both parks. You can buy them in the parks once you see if it's crowded. Bob

    Southwest Online Check In

Are you sure about that? Have you ever done it? I have never heard of anyone ever being able to call to check in. If that was true why does everyone check in via Guest Services, cell phones and other methods? Just curious, Bob

    Character Autographs through the mail?

"character integrity" ? Please explain. I'm honestly asking. You're probably right about younger kids. My kids got autographs while at the parks. But I do think some of the posters after me probably have the right idea on who's signing when we're not looking. BD

    Character Autographs through the mail?

I understand the sentiment but Dug the dog is whoever is wearing the costume that day. Id bet if you wrote and asked the person designated to do autographs that day is who signs it. Any reason you can't use the "forgery" posted here? Bob

OUCH Broke my toe and leave in 7 days!

I broke mine the day before we left for Universal in January. Make sure the shoes you intend on wearing in the parks are wide enough to not press in on the toe. My size 13 Sketchers worked much better than my size 13 sneakers. Other than that, ice it down every day. There's not much that can...

Anyone stay at the Sheraton Vistana Villages?

we stayed there 2 years ago. Very nice 2 bedroom villa. Love having a kitchen and washer/dryer. That trip was Universal only. But it was such a nice place, staying offsite is now always a consideration when going to Orlando even if it's not a Vistana. Bob

Advice needed - Cancel trip or go?

I would go. Make sure he does not strain the leg. I think an Achilles injury can be re-injured easily. Just put him in a wheelchair and go. I think you can get special passes at guest services. Bob

    Hard Rock Hotel

I'll respectfully disagree. We were there 3 weeks ago and the Express Passes were still free if you stay at one of the 3 hotels. You just show your room key. We loved the hotel and after booking initially at $254 a night we were able to re-book later at $211. We took the boat to City Walk...

    Which is better?

I agree. Universal and not IOA. Your 5 year old may love Jimmy Neutron and Shrek. MiB and Simpsons are fun as well.

Santonio Holmes at The Magic Kingdom

Thank you. Although I haven't re-watched the game, several people who have said that the guy Harrison was "assaulting" had attempted to punch him in the groin. The open-handed shove after the the guy started to get up is a perfectly legal play as long as it's before the whistle. I won't make...

    Express Pass worth it?

I'll offer a different perspective. Since you said you plan to do both parks in 1 day consider this. Let's assume the longest waits are 20 minutes for the most popular rides: Mummy, Simpsons, Hulk, Spiderman, Jaws, Men In Black and Dueling Dragons. We just got back and had Express Passes and...

    Brief Trip Report 1/23-1/26

Just thought I'd post a few notes/observations from our quick trip. We arrived late Friday afternoon (1/23). The omens for this trip were good. We took off early, landed about 15 early, and were at the hotel about an hour before I thought we would. Stayed at the Hard Rock. Check in was quick...

    Rehab Update

I just checked the web site and there's a change for Jaws: Please note that the following attractions will be down for refurbishments: * Fievel’s Waterslide – January 1st – 31st * JAWS – January 12th – 31st

    The Best Hospital in Orlando

My wife spent 3 days at the hospital in Celebration last January. She has been a floor nurse, critical care nurse, and nurse anesthetist over 30 years and says it's probably the best care she's ever had in a hospital. Although most of the docs seemed to be foreigners she had no complaints...

From the far reaches of Universal and beyond

I like Disney and Universal both. IMHO, Universal has the best ride in Orlando, Spiderman. Given that once I get done with the rides at Universal then I don't feel much need to hang around the park. WDW parks have enough detail and theming for me to hang around a while and soak it all in...

    How is the T-Rex restaurant?

I listened to a review at another board that does podcasts. It's much like Rainforest in that there's a store and robot animals. They said is was VERY loud and is the reason they won't go back. Food and service fine but they expect that to lower a bit as the place had managers "every 3 feet"...

    US/IOA - what's to not be missed?

3 days and you should be able to everything in both parks. Nobody mentioned riding Jimmy Neutron. I think it's a great ride. BD

The very first Disney ride that everyone rides!

I used to work for the company in Pittsburgh that manufactured those trains. We had a test track out back of the building. Unfortunately I never got to ride back there. I worked on communications systems for new subway cars for New York City. Bob

Ever planned a trip with someone who isnt "excited"??

I agree with all the other people that said don't take her. It sound like she's going so she's not left out of some event. I would NEVER relent and go to some shopping mall while in Orlando. Why would you waste YOUR time (and the expense of being there) to go some place you don't want to go...

I need a fridge for my upcoming trip

Just curious, how can you afford a 12 day trip to WDW but not the $120 for a fridge? Or was "afford" the wrong word? Bob
