    Airtran or Southwest?

Based on your location (Virignia) I assume you can fly out of Dulles. If Jet Blue's times for non-stop flights look good, I would fly with them. Bigger seats, directTv, and reserved seating. DO NOT take a Jet Blue connecting flight through JFK. It's a nightmare. Otherwise I would go with...

    Disney vs. Universal

You really can't compare them that way. They offer different things. Universal seems to be geared for the not-so-young (over, say 7-8 years). Some of the rides at Universal are as good or better than anything at WDW. Spiderman for instance and for 3-D, the Terminator. Also, IOA has 2...

    192

This past January we saw virtually no traffic on 192, west of I-4 on the way to WDW proper. Bob

Increased "Security Procedures" at Universal Orlando.

We were there in January 2008 and they didn't care about the water bottles and snacks we brought. They didn't even mention it. Bob

    How Young is too young?

If you can afford to go more than once every 3-4 years then do what you like. I think some people (and this is OK to me if you can afford it) use the excuse of taking the kids to Disney when they really want an excuse to go themselves. But if money is an issue then, IMHO, I would never...

    Calling all Yinzers...

It's derived from the southwest PA version of y'all (you all, you guys, all of you, etc.) and usually spelled yinz or yunz. You say to a group of people, "Did yunz eat yet?" Which can also be contracted over more to "Jinzeet yet?". Bob

    Tips for taking adult first-timers?

More on the logistics side, ask them if they want to avoid waiting in lines, take it easy or a little of both. As you know, getting there at rope drop can alleviate a lot of waiting. Once it gets crowded shift into sight seeing mode. Bob

For those of you who have been multiple times...

We won't be returning until about 2012, after both kids are in college. Porbalby in December to catch the decorations. We plan on doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Since we have 5 days of hoppers left on our no expire tickets we can take our time and check out EVERYTHING at each park. I'm...

    First time with JetBlue...

Make sure you reserve a seat behind the exit rows. There is more leg room. You can check it out at seatguru.com And as the person above said. Absolutely, 100% stay away from JFK. Traveling through there is a nightmare. Bob

The decision to visit those "other" parks!

Instead of Sea World or Busch Gardens, how about Universal Studios. If you're willing to sacrifice a day to go outside WDW then I'd do Universal. Have fun, Bob

Anyone been to WDW in Jan???

Other than MLK weekend and New Years Day, January is my favorite time. MLK this year was very crowded. Bob

This I why I've never taken a video camera to WDW, Bob

    northwest airlines or midwest arlines

Midwest all the way. If you get the right plane it's all first class seating. Bob

What would you put on the kids menus that are heathier than nuggets?

From what I understand about children's nutrition is that they should NOT be on low-fat diets. Fat is essential to brain development. Given that the should not be allowed to fill-up on greasy foods or sugary desserts either. They need a balance, obviously. Bob

    How Long Can You Go?

For us it will be December 2012. Both kids will be in college and we wanted to go ourselves and do what WE wanted to do at our own pace. We have 5 days of park hoppers leftover (intentionally) from our January trip for that purpose. Bob

    Drive/ fly or train

I'll have to chime in and agree that flying is the safest way to travel vs almost 20+ hours driving. Good luck though. Bob

Tactics to make a frightend child feel comfortable?

Try It's a Small World first, maybe? It's semi-dark and similar to POTC. When my kids were young, 7 and 4, we did not take them on the rides they were scared of and they were fine when we went back at 12 and 9. How about getting some videos of the the thnkgs he's afraid of such as fireworks...

    FYI: Adding days to tickets

After our trip in January I ended up with one less day on my no expiration ticket than did my wife. (The reason is a long story) We had planned to use the remaining days in a couple years (we bought extra days each on the original tickets). Anyway, I couldn't add the days while in Orlando so...

Best place to stay with a party of 7????????

I'll second the recommendation for All Star Vacation Homes. We stayed there over MLK weekend and loved it. The various rentals are less than 10 minutes from World Drive at Disney and probably about 15-20 minutes to actually get parked at any of the parks. 4 people for 4 nights at a 3br/3ba...

    Imagination Demolition?

I would maybe make a guess that Kodak is getting ready to pull sponsorship. The overall trend for their stock since about 1997 is down. Bob
