Should it stay or should it go.

The whole reason you take a demanding, stressful, high pressure, physically taxing job as a server is because you typically make more money with tips than your typical minimum wage job ringing up groceries. I waited tables and bartended for about 8 years through college and for a few years...

    Large party dining question

When I made reservations for 14, I had to call and in some cases (Chefs de France) I had to fax in a reservation request. I second the Wave....the wall of smaller tables and banquette seating would allow for a big group like that. Maybe Skippers Canteen? I'm thinking of big open feel restaurants....

Does Disney lie about wait times in their official app???

I found the app to be pretty accurate as well. Better to over estimate than under estimate in my opinion. I've gotten into lines that said it was only a 20 minute wait and it ended up being closer to 40 (Living with the Land!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

Symphony in the Stars: A Galactic Spectacular viewing advice

It would be hard to miss those fireworks from anywhere on that main drag. Grab a treat from Sweet Spells and look up is my advice lol. Those fireworks are AMAZING. Enjoy!

    a word about gratuities

I think last time I was there, they had tip amounts at the bottom based on the check total. 15%, 18% and 20%. That should help you determine the appropriate tip. Basically, I just take the total check number, calculate 10% and double it. Sometimes I round it, which could make the tip slightly...

    Personal bites/treats at MK

I really enjoyed the cake cups in Fantasy Land last time we were there. We got a strawberry one and it was really really good!

    Not worth the wait?

I was glad I had a FP for 7DMT. That ride was so short I couldn't imagine waiting an hour and a half for it. I think I would've felt super disappointed. Some rides hold sentimental value for me (like Peter Pan). So if I didn't have my kids with me and I didn't have anything else to do, I would...

Ditto R&C. You can go out to their patio and watch the fireworks and enjoy a nice cold beer. Nothing better!

Pre-Trip Our first ever DELUXE break from real life: a Jan-Feb 2016 PTR

I've been getting nervous when reading all the fall TR's. Historically low crowds on paper, but all the parks seemed to be mobbed. Hoping that's mostly due to F&W. Keeping my fingers crossed for Skippers Cantina ADR's to open up.

Last minute trip at then end of January, family of 8, most bang for buck?

I like eating at the resorts at those three parks. I would say Boma at AKL, Beaches and Cream at Beach Club (close to HS), and The Wave at Contemporary are all good choices for the whole family.

Trip Report A Disnewbie's First Trip: the Good, the Mistakes, & the Spilled Hot Chocolate

Great TR! I agree with all of your tips. Especially the "resting" part. I have noticed that in the heat, everyone gets super ornery. I'm curious to see what our trip in February will be like. If everyone is in better moods because of the lower temperatures. Ps...your little girls' freckles are...

    Hidden Gems??

If you're off the DDP or looking to pay OOP, I like Territory Lounge and Crews Cup for a quiet quick meal. I've got the Cabana Bar on my list for Feb at the Swan/Dolphin. The menu looks awesome. Captain's Grille is a great choice on the DDP.

Grossest thing you ate at the parks?

I spit out the "key lime parfait" from Flame Tree. It tasted like chemicals. That's the only thing I've ever eaten in WDW that was inedible. I generally like the food at Disney, but after a week I'm over it.
