That's one reason why I've always advocated re-opening The AC there. Knockout the wall and utilize the BET space. Themed gift shop and restaurant would provide plenty of additional revenue to justify the expenditure.

Point taken, and I get the paint as "upkeep till they make a decision", but do you really need to have air conditioning to preserve a building? Does climate control keep mold and mildew at bay? Seems like a few months without air conditioning shouldn't hurt much if that is the reasoning. A...

You don't paint and repair the air conditioning unit on a building you are planning to tear down. This seems to indicate they are planning to use this building going forward. The question is now only whether it is being re-purposed or re-opened in something of its original form.

Interesting thought. How hard would it be to make it the Swedish pavilion or Danish? Estonian? Latvian? Are the cultures so different that a total re-work would be required? Perhaps just the threat to do such a think would bring the original sponsors back.
