    What if this thing fails?

Disney is such a mammoth company, it is such a complex question. If you just focus on WDW... Star Wars Land is going to be enormously popular - so much so that I don't want to be anywhere near Orlando for the first few months the land is open. People will still go to WDW. It's an incredibly...

News Tony's Most Merriest Town Square Party comes to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party for 2018

In another thread about how the holiday parties are getting too crowded, I was joking around about how they will add upcharge events within the current upcharge events. IT WAS A JOKE!

Who else is thinking about waiting until 2020 or so to go back to the World?

^THIS. My plan is to go before it opens and then take a break for a couple of years. :(

Just back from 2 weeks in Disney, some thoughts on our visit

Sounds like you went into the trip looking to have a good time, and you did. I try to do the same thing (despite my frequently negative attitude on these boards). ;) Without the Yeti in "A mode", Everest is still a fun coaster. With the Yeti, it is an absolutely unique and amazing experience.

News New Gondola Transportation - Disney Skyliner

I'm sure it's safe. The odds of someone needing to be rescued would be as high as the likelihood of a dragon float catching fire in the middle of the afternoon parade.

Is there no nighttime parade in the MK anymore?

Some of us are upset about the lack of a nighttime parade at MK, but not nearly enough of us. It's another example of Disney giving us less and charging us more. As long as the people keep coming and buying tickets, there's not really any urgency to bring a parade back (or any other costly live...

    MNSSHP extremely over crowded

Oh yes... I've gone a few rounds with those posters trying to explain how the value of my vacation declined because of these parties even though I chose not to go. I think this is one of those things where long-time Disney fans have a different perspective. We used to go to WDW between...

    MNSSHP extremely over crowded

EXACTLY. And if you want to see a crowded park, go to the MK on either of those 2 nights. It will be PACKED because those are the only 2 nights the MK will be open at night. So what does the family do? Either deal with the insane crowds, don't go to the MK at night, or pay for the special event...

    MNSSHP extremely over crowded

I agree. In fact, because we love the Magic Kingdom at night, we've stopped going to WDW in the Fall. It's a shame because we love Food & Wine too. But it is what it is... :(

    MNSSHP extremely over crowded

A few years ago we were kicked out of the Magic Kingdom as one of the parties started. Our plan was to take our time leaving, maybe do some shopping. But they were actively patrolling and kicked our non-party-going butts out of the park. Now... I get it... I didn't pay for the ticketed event...

    MNSSHP extremely over crowded

Definitely. My family and I went years ago. The parade was cool (loved the headless horseman!) It was a fun event, something different to do. But we didn't go specifically to avoid crowds (the crowds weren't that bad back then) or to enjoy the MK at night (they had fewer parties back then so we...

    MNSSHP extremely over crowded

Disney is driving up demand for these paid events by not dealing appropriately with crowds and then holding these events which limits the number of nights Magic Kingdom is open late pretty much all Fall. It's getting to the point where if you want to enjoy the MK at night in the Fall, you almost...

    Pricing the crowds away

I don't necessarily disagree with the rest of your post... as Disney gets more expensive we are going less often and cutting back on some extras to control costs but if it means lower crowds we will likely enjoy the trips we do take more. But comparing current-day trips to past trips? In terms...

Disneyland Paris requires 150 euros per person for unlimited FastPass, Is WDW next?

The question is, how would a paid system would affect how FP+ currently works? I'm sure enough people would use it to have some kind of impact. I suspect popular FPs would be even more difficult to get. You may have to pay for it if you want the same kind of experience you're currently enjoying...

News Park attendance showing significant softness heading into the Fall 2018

We used to just pay the bill for the trip and then put that out of our mind and just enjoy the experience. If you can still do that, you might be able to enjoy your vacation as much as you ever did... depending on how long the lines are and how short the hours are, unless your bill included some...

Why Walt Disney World Needs a 5th Theme Park By 2025

It comes down to this: Disney should spend the money to build QUALITY attractions, lands and parks. The reason for the negative reactions to many things Disney does is that the quality is not always where we would expect it to be. And when the quality isn't there, the reason is Disney scaled...

DHS Any Bets on What Comes After Galaxy's Edge?

Not my intent to compare SWL to Harry Potter. I'm just saying Universal saw that Harry Potter was incredibly popular so they expanded on it. I hope Disney does the same thing - fast. I really think the crowds will be unprecedented. Two attractions will be so completely inadequate. I honestly...

DHS Any Bets on What Comes After Galaxy's Edge?

I think we're going to see soul-crushing crowds in Star Wars Land. I realize I'm being overly negative (and I don't mean to be), it's just that Star Wars is such a popular draw. The land looks amazing but will only hold TWO attractions. Like Pandora you're going to need FPs to do either of these...

Grading Walt Disney World Throughout the Decades

True enough. It calls into question the logic of being a fan I guess. It really comes down to loyalty. With sports teams there's a certain expectation that the team will try to be good, that they will try to win to earn that loyalty that their fans give to them. (Unless you're the Sixers...

Grading Walt Disney World Throughout the Decades

Should people have LOYALTY to Disney the same way a fan has loyalty to a sports team? I agree, you shouldn't give up on your team... and if you do, you shouldn't call yourself a fan. But Disney is a corporation that provides a service, they are not a sports team. If I have a favorite restaurant...
