Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

I don't agree with a lot of the opinions expressed by this poster, but those are just opinions and everyone gets their own. However, in this last bit, PB made a statement that was challenged on a factual basis. Rather than dig in and get defensive, he took a moment to research it and posted his...

    Annual Pass

According to another poster it was: "Finally and here's the reason they are doing it, Adults have been using Child tickets linked Magic bands to get into the park and because the readers were not activated for those tickets it was difficult to catch as a park greeter." But I'll leave...

    Annual Pass

Ok, that's better. There is an argument that could made both in favor and against bio-metrically linking all tickets, but I can't come up with a single justifiable reason to take biometrics of a non-ticket holding infant.

    Annual Pass

Wow. I don't know how I missed that one. I assume there is a post somewhere about this. I'll give it a search, but if you want to encourage my laziness and point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. Edit: I found this...

    Annual Pass

Since when have children under 3 needed tickets?

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

I could be mistaken, but I believe that poster intended to present a list of "in-house" movies.

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

Haha, I really wasn't trying to make you eat anything. I know others will disagree because they hate "confrontation", but I enjoyed our little debate. It made me think and even made me go back and check a couple sources. Really got the old brain chugging a bit. So for engaging in a reasonable...

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

I guess to me the football analogy is perfect. I am not a fan of Iger and I think he's been bad for the company (parks especially). But I won't fault him in areas where he actually succeeded. Football owners make the same decisions all the time. If I'm an owner and my QB gets injured, retires...

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

Fair enough. That's the point of discussion after all.

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

For what it's worth, John is creative director, not president, so he's not exactly the overall leader. I cannot fathom the problem here. Iger actually did something right (in placing Lasseter where he did) but because John proved himself somewhere else first, it doesn't count as Disney anymore...

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

And the 2016 Jungle Book beats all but one of the Pirates movies on that list, so what? The point stands that there have been successes since 2003. Just admit that it was hyperbole, it's not a big deal. But clinging to your claim despite facts to the contrary makes you sound like another of our...

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

That doesn't logically follow at all. Disney animation has always needed "outside help". Since day 1 animators got hired from other places after they showed their talent.
  13. RobidaFlats

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

But it was still successful. Hence my assertion of hyperbole.

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

I just addressed your animation claims above. As far as live action, there have been successful films since then. Not on the level of Pirates, sure, but certainly successful. Enchanted springs to mind (only because I happened to re-watch it the other day). But I'm sure if you pulled the...

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

That's ridiculous. They don't count as home-grown because John worked somewhere else first? By that logic Mickey isn't Disney because he was created and drawn by guys who worked somewhere else first.

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

This is hyperbole: "the last truly successful thing Disney created on its own was the first Pirates of the Caribbean in 2003" There have been quite a few successful movies in the past decade. In particular, there was some movie about cold or freezing that seems to have been a rather successful...

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

I'm certainly no pixie-duster, but c'mon, that last bit is an absurd piece of hyperbole.
  18. RobidaFlats

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

I agree wholeheartedly with the first paragraph. I think the second is a little more complicated, but probably accurate for the most part. I will, however, point out that Lasseter was actually on the pro-sequel side for Toy Story while he was at Pixar. He was fighting for it while Disney was...

Iger rumored to extend his term as CEO

Certainly true. But it doesn't answer the question. Does he not deserve at least some of the credit as head of the department for the incredible turnaround and string of hits? It seems unfair to me to give Bob credit for the current turnaround (whether it is equal to the 90s one is debatable)...
