I doubt Joe Rohde had free rein with what to do with that part of the park. He likely had to decide how to justify the off the shelve rides and that was the best he could do for a theme with the budget given to him. I'm sure he would have come up with something a lot better if really could do...

Yeah, remember there was some kind of tent there before they replaced that with the carnival. I think it might have still been part of the Chester and Hester's storyline but it's been a long time since I have thought of any of this and this is going by memory.

It also might no longer be feasible to purchase the land in secret the way Walt did back in the 60's (so they don't get ripped off). Even if it's just a Disneyland size property. Could they even prevent something like that from leaking in the 2020's?

I guess they are seeing how the new Zootopia tv series does (and maybe even a second movie if it does well) before committing.

I get the impression the average person just thinks theme parks are just a bunch of random stuff shoved together without any cohesiveness to it. You can kind of see this in fictional depictions of theme parks in cartoons. And when it comes to some of this stuff, it's not exactly mind blowing...

I sometimes wonder if Disneyland had gotten an AE clone instead of having the building turned into a Pizza Planet if they would still have theirs.

6 years ago? It was around 4 years ago when they dismantled Stitch and you have to keep in mind how much of that time everything was frozen because of the pandemic.

They probably can't think of what to put there. I mean there's no space for a dark ride.

Also didn't the ride still make babies cry despite their attempts to tame it down and shorten the time in the dark? The dark is scary for many who are young.

Something to keep in mind is that while the use of IP is undoubtably profit based, there are fans who genuinely want to go through a recreation of a familiar location in their favorite movie rather then an original experience. Especially if it is accurate and high budgeted.

Wouldn't that be because of the space issue? Reacquiring more land from sea probably isn't an option and they can't move inland because everything is bought by others there.

Wasn't the Fantasyland expansion done in phases? And the Hollywood Studios expansion could also be said to have been done in phases.
