News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Disneyland opening reports/reviews

2047 is of big concern to those protesting. I lived in China for a time and go back often. I have many friends and acquaintances on both sides of this. If the handover agreement was in perpetuity instead of 50 years, the protests would have subsided by now. Protesters got what they...

I'm afraid that is the case. The handover agreement expiring in 2047 is the ominous cloud that hangs over all of this. It's a shame because Hong Kong is an amazing place. I'm not a vacation package person, but I've seen round trip flights for as low as $329 from LA to HK. That is...

    Disney+ @ Parks & Rollout

It's framed through time periods. The first episode for example covers the creation of Disneyland through Walt's death. Episode 2 is the creation of WDW through Tokyo Disneyland. The content is the people and attractions and trying to uncover their process in the time period they worked...

I swear that park is cursed. It's such an underrated gem. Hopefully their luck changes soon. Agreed. My guess is that soon after ROTR is running reliably they will introduce FP to both GE rides. DHS needs the FP capacity much more than Disneyland, but FP will even out the wait times more.

Watched the 1st episode this morning. They are only releasing one at a time so no binging it on the first day. I enjoyed it. It covers the creation of Disneyland up until Walt's death. A lot of the stories you have heard before if you follow Disneyland history, but it does have some footage...

Looking at it from a pragmatic business perspective, none of those meet the standard of Chapek losing his job. I'm sorry it just doesn't. I realize this is a fan site, but for Disney to make a move like removing the head of parks, you need a viable business reason. I understand not liking...

For the sake of argument, based on what? I'm not a fan of his, but I don't believe he is any better or worse than his predecessors. If he leaves, he will probably be replaced with a like minded individual.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Disneyland opening reports/reviews

I would disagree that most are nuanced in their assessment on this forum. It's been extremely negative IMO. Overly so. Calling for the head of the parks division and/or the lead on the GE project over the "disaster of GE" is hardly a nuanced position and which is a feeling shared by several...

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Disneyland opening reports/reviews

Agreed, but it is important to note that those expressing opinions on message boards like this one are a very very small percentage of the overall visitor base. If you based your opinion of GE purely on what has been seen on this board you would think the it was a massive failure. Meanwhile...

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Many shows exist in formats that do not have commercials.

So far the reviews have been very positive. We aren't talking about bloggers either. Legitimate media was given screeners of the first two episodes.

Yes, they dodged a bullet for sure. Netflix gave the two a huge deal that they will probably regret. https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2019/10/game-of-thrones-david-benioff-d-b-weiss-panel

At times I am disappointed in what they churn out. I also enjoy a lot of the recent product as well. In your comparison you use extreme examples. The very best of early Disney and some of the worst of modern Disney. A more apt comparison would be DL Pirates vs Shanghai Pirates and HM vs...

Based on your ratings, probably not worth trying engineer anyway. The gunner position is really disappointing. They couldn't copy the blueprint from the movies?

    New Star Tours Scene

I like the engineer position, so I guess I can't answer that question since it assumes nobody finds it fun. The droid and lightsaber building is part of the land so yes I would say yes it is an interactive element of the land. I would say that your point could be argued as part of the reason...

    New Star Tours Scene

I'm in the minority, but not alone in actually liking the other 2 roles. The gunner maybe less of an effect on the overall mission, but engineers doing or not doing their job does. The whole point is to get the coaxium. If the engineers don't do their job, you fail the mission. Until Rise...

    New Star Tours Scene

Whoever predicted Star Tours would go away right after GE opened were wrong. It's a whole another conversation about "insiders" who they are, where they get the information, and why they choose to say what they say. Suffice to say I don't put much if any stock into what gets said from non...

    New Star Tours Scene

I guess you put more stock into "insiders" than I do. Yes I heard some people say it, but Disney hasn't to my knowledge. That's what I meant. If Disney got rid of attractions when a new iteration of the same type of ride came out, most rides at Disney would have been gone ages ago.

    New Star Tours Scene

Who said that Star Tours was going to be obsolete and be going away? Anyone besides clueless bloggers? Maybe I missed it, but I don't remember anyone of importance saying Star Tours would be going away anytime soon. If anything Disney has said it was staying multiple times.
