How many times have you been

First set foot at WDW 23 years ago today, first day of the Smee's honeymoon (married 10/11/80). Have been back 13 times counting a couple quick stops while in Orlando on business.

    Brother Bear and Wishes update!

Saw Collins with Genesis many years ago when they were still playing 2k seat theaters and Phil was just a drummer. How's that for old.

    MGM Tour? I am crazy?

I remember the walking part of the tour as well. When we went the sets for Apollo 13 were up and active. We were told to talk softly, no pictures, no tapping on the glass, etc. If you want to see MGM back stage now (

    Dinner and a show

We do this every trip, usually at Brown Derby. Make the reservation well in advance, especially if there is only one Fantasmic show the evening you want. The seats are on the right of the amphitheater, good enough to see the entire show. I think it was $35/person at BD, but you can order...

    Hyatt Closing

The contact said Disney had lured away much of their convention/meeting business to WDW on-property resorts. They just could not go on. Your right, this was a very large complex, very spread out. Good meeting facilities. It was an older hotel, spent part of my honeymoon there in 1980...

    Hyatt Closing

I am involved in a seminar scheduled for next January at the Hyatt Orlando in Kissimee, on 192 at the I-4 interchange. We have been notified the property is declaring BR and shutting down, our contract will not be honored. This was a very convenient hotel to WDW, one of the first big ones to...

    Wdw In May 2004

Been there in May, it can get hot but nothing like middle of summer, you should be fine. The thing we noticed about the crowds were many school groups taking their end of year trips. This wasn't a real problem, just a high number of kids in big groups, most were very well behaved. The thing...

    Breakfast ideas needed

You'll love it, just be sure and ask your CM for a family picture.

    Ps Completed

All good choices, we need a full report when you return. When you go to Whispering Canyon, ask your CM to take a family picture for you.

If you could sit on a bench-

The rocking chairs on the porch at Liberty Tree. A table on the outdoor seating area at Artist Point. Sitting at the end of the marina dock at Poly, late at night, with a fine cigar and a snifter of Sambucca. Any bench on Hollywood Blvd at Studio. The character actors are great.

    Restaurant you can't miss??

My picks: Character Breakfast - Crystal Palace, great omlettes and service. Casual Lunch or Dinner - Liberty Tree, love the food and atmosphere, get a table in the Ben Franklin Room. Characters as well. This is a the place to escape for a relaxing meal at MK. Themed Lunch - Sci Fi...

How easy is it to change resorts

We change resorts every trip, I have mentioned this in trip reports. It is no problem at all, we pack the bags in the AM before taking off for the parks, call the bellman and ask the bags to be transported to the next resort. They guarantee delivery by 3:00 PM. Usually we make a swing by the...

    honeymoon destination of the world

Did our honeymoon at WDW as well, in 1980. I don't remember WDW being into the wedding thing back then. Only Contemporary, Poly, and Ft. Wilderness were open as far as resorts (we were at the Hyatt Kissimmee), and MK was the only park open. Don't remember anyone wearing the wedding ears. We...

    Honeymooners! Help!

I have been in Tony's when a fuss was made about a honeymooning couple. The waiter organized a toast to the couple and all the tables in the area participated, it was a scripted toast, not off-the-cuff. I also think they got a special dessert but check this out. Didn't see any gifts or mementos...

    Garden Grill

I never knew of breakfast being served at GG, Epcot in general is not a breakfast friendly place. The only place I can remember eating breakdfast at Epcot was a counter service location in Innoventions East if it is still serving.

    Breakfast @ Disney Studios

I'm not aware of any character or table service breakfast presently in DS but there is decent counter service breakfast at The Commissary next to GMR. At one time there was a character breakfast at what is now Playhouse Disney, we did it and it was pretty good character wise. All the most...

    Discovery Cove Question

Just did DC for the first time, it is great and it does fill up an entire day. Everything is provided, take your suit and camera. We bought a 27 exposure UWcamera at DC for $17. The lunch was excellent. We left DC around 5:00 and went over to SW, parked right at the front entrance. Stopped at...

The Great Movie Ride "?" after the Rehab.

Just rode it, no new scenes, same beginning/ending film. There is a new CM ride introduction , they now present themselves as movie buffs and how great it is to see these classics. Lots of new paint and carpeting, the building looks good, sound is very good. Does anyone else remember when GMR...

    Trip report, 6/4-6/15

The way I remember it the Illuminations Cruise had packages you could order. The birthday package, wine & cheeze, Dessert, etc. Similar to the fireworks cruises at 7 seas lagoon. I don't believe they allow you to bring on your own food & drink. We had planned to have 5 on our boat , only had 3...
