DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I believe I recall that they were originally planning to start work on the Dinoland (or at least Dino-Rama) replacement even sooner, which is why they were so quick to demolish PW and prep the land for construction. But then I guess they couldn’t get their sh*t together quickly enough, which is...

DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Agreed. I really wish they would go all out with this park and add a whole bunch of new things over a short time period. Outside of Dinoland, it’s so aesthetically pleasing and well themed, but it is vastly lacking in the attractions (specifically rides) department. And they have so much room to...

DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I would love to see them add more in addition to this, but PW is a sunk cost at this point. A replacement for PW adds just as much capacity relative to where we are today as a (comparable) new addition somewhere else would.

DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

If they’re gonna add a third IP to Tropical Americas, Up would make more sense than Coco. It’s a better geographical fit, it already has a presence in DAK, and there are at least 2 other places at WDW that Coco would fit (Mexico & Beyond Big Thunder)

DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Agreed, I think WS in particular needs more rides. Frozen & Rat’s wait times get so long partially because, if you’re in the area and have kids, there’s not much else to do. Adding 3-4 more C/D-ticket rides back there (e.g. Poppins in UK, Coco as addition to Mexico, Tangled in Germany...

News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

From what I’ve seen across the internet, MK is 142 acres, while DHS is 154. But I’m not sure what exactly that includes (e.g., Beyond Big Thunder expansion plot?). Regardless, they’re similar in size, yet MK has a lot more to do. And I def agree that Disney is hesitant to expand because of...

MK Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

He is a swamp monster, so that’s actually right on theme. Disney better hope Universal doesn’t sue them for breaching the Marvel contract and get the whole attraction shut down (I’m unsure whether Man Thing is part of any families Uni is using)

News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

They could certainly fit that many. MK is the smallest WDW park in area, yet it has by far the most attractions. DL is even smaller and has even more. Space is not the issue.

DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I don’t think this really qualifies as “recency bias” considering that the live-action Jungle Book came out the same year as Moana and Zootopia

News Fantasmic!, Festival of Fantasy Parade and Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire to return to Walt Disney World

It’s about time someone shows these ladders some respect. People have been walking all over them for too long.

EPCOT New Play Pavilion to replace Epcot's Wonders of Life

It’s “wasted space” because you personally didn’t like it? From the little bit we were told, it definitely sounded like something my kids would’ve enjoyed. It could have served as a nice place for little kids to run around and play while their older siblings rode GotG, MS, or TT. And if it...

News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

“7 lands in 10 years” is not actually a thing that has been proposed. But if it was, that wouldn’t be ambitious. We’ve easily surpassed that in the past 10 years (2xSWGE, 2xTSL, Pandora, 3xAvengers Campus, World of Frozen, Zootopia, Pixar Pier, 2xNFL [a few of these may be contested as “new...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Ah, so yea they’d need to build a bridge (for either guests to traverse to get to the ride or for vehicles) or they’d need to reroute the emergency access somewhere else. Doesn’t sound infeasible (but who knows?)

They could also put the ride in the back half of the plot where Royal Sommerhus (Anna & Elsa M&G) sits, with a connection to the Mexico pavilion.

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

The GotG queue feels like it goes on forever (which makes sense considering that it consumes basically an entire building that used to house a 45-min attraction). I have to imagine it could accommodate most of the demand.

News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

The spending itself will come in the back half of the cycle, not the openings. Which means shovels won’t hit the ground for most of what they plan to build until 2028 and beyond. That doesn’t mean we’ll get nothing in the meantime, but the bulk of the new projects are likely to open in the...

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

The capacity is the same whether they use VQ or not. It’s just a question of where people wait: either in the queue for that ride or in the queues for other rides. As long as guests can fit in the footprint of the former (which I would expect to be the case at this point), that appears to be the...

News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

I don’t know why anyone is expecting much at this year’s D23 Expo. Iger has already said most of the investment will come later in the decade. So even if you take him at his word about the $60 billion investment in parks, most of the major announcements wouldn’t come until 2026 & 2028. I’m sure...

News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

I don’t think there’s any magic to the number 7 here. I think they literally just divided the cumulative area of the land they have available for development by the area of Disneyland Park and rounded to the nearest whole number. Of course, this doesn’t mean that they’re building 7 new...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

From a logistical perspective, it would be very hard for Disney to combat against things like this (though there are some measures they could take to mitigate it, such as blocking you from securing a return time for a ride if you have a dining reservation in the interim). But from a theoretical...
