Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Where we are at least, tickets are $12. We also just intentionally avoid buying food or drink at the theater and make sure to eat beforehand. So it isn’t too bad for us. But I definitely get it is t for everyone and has gone up overall.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I’m not savvy enough with current Box Office to analyze much, but I know the general consensus is it is trending disappointment. Which is sad. I love FF, and even aside I think it was a solid film roughly in the same tier as Superman. I hope we get a sequel.

DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

Legit question- someone earlier in the thread mentioned they likely moved the coaster back for better access for back of house? I didn’t fully follow that. They are gonna re-route the road around the coaster aren’t they?

DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I think they closed MV3D early so they could use the Swedish Chef's cannon for demolition.

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

Sure, and I get all that. I do think there were a lot of creative decisions that were within their control that made matters worse. I would have given Doomsday/Secret Wars a little more time to build. Not talking a lot. Just an extra movie or so. I think the general audience right now hasn’t...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

Definitely. And honestly it is less about needing to build up Galactus and more about building toward Doomsday/Secret Wars that worries me. My main complaint with Galactus in this just has to do with how they use him in the third act a bit. But I don’t want to spoil anything for you! I think he...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

I want to reiterate, I liked Fantastic Four. This is something I feel weakened it a bit. And yes, I think it weakened Doctor Strange a bit. But even there- Doctor Strange was part of a larger narrative building toward Infinity War, but his movie didn’t need to carry much of the weight beyond...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

Sure, but I think there is a clear difference in how they’ve handled it pre-and post- Endgame. I’d argue it’s been a mess since then and there has been almost no buildup for Secret Wars. There also really isn’t a reason they couldn’t have done Mutants before Secret Wars. Some of the stories...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

That’s my point. There should be more time. It’s a mistake to do it this quickly. And why I am skeptical of the Avengers films. I guess we’ll just have to disagree. A big part of what made the MCU successful was falling in love with characters which then led to stakes and emotion when they were...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

Random aside. It would have been great to have a third Doctor Strange movie based on the Triumph and Torment storyline with Doom.

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

Oh you’ll be fine as far as being able to follow along. This movie is great when it comes to all that. My point is not about understanding them as far as their powers, etc. but giving more space for the audience to know the characters personalities and themes before going straight into an...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

Except that’s not what I’m saying. A Spider-Man: Homecoming type film is what I’m talking about. Have them fight the Wizard or Mole Man or some smaller villain that the audience doesn’t know and build this world, these characters, their dynamics, etc, more before you go to this world ending...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

L i need to go back and read some stuff cause I don’t remember that. Though often those kind of retconned get re-retconned later lol. But I totally agree. I hope they don’t do that with Franklin it just seemed like it might be the direction they take. One of the reasons I like Franklin is he...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

I didn’t necessarily mean an origin, just a smaller film that focused on getting to know the characters and introduce themes with more time to breathe.

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

That's perfectly possible. I just don't know if that is the direction they will take it or not. Possible spoilers for Doomsday/Secret Wars: We know the old guard of X-Men will have some role in those movies (Hugh Jackman/Patrick Stewart, etc). That will most likely be multiverse explanation...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

I know stuff has been being thrown together for a bit, but I really think this would have been better as two movies. One that introduces the FF, their world, the family themes, etc, and another where they face Galactus and things start building toward Doomsday/Secret Wars. Everything just feels...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

Mutants are those born with their powers (through the mutant X gene). The FF acquired their powers through cosmic rays, so they are not mutants. In the comics, Franklin is a mutant. I'm not sure how they will unpack it in the films. As far as him reading Darwin, my theory is that they won't...

The second act of this film is one of my favorites of the whole MCU. In part because of the Interstellar beats.

There has to be something else there, right? Something not in the concept art. Otherwise I just don’t see how it matches up.

Saw FF today and really enjoyed it! A few criticisms but overall a really solid film and my favorite since Endgame! (Not counting No Way Home)
