    WDW Laying off Cast Members

Some of it has to do with how critical the position you have is for the day-to-day operations to run smoothly. A lot of times in layoffs you'll find a job title is dissolved and the duties are spread around to others. If you happen to be in that job, no matter how good you are at it, it likely...

Toy Story Mania... Now on the Wii

Quick check of Gamestop and Amazon did not yield any results, and they are usually some of the first to post (often fabricated) release dates. I would imagine, to maximize synergy, the release would take place somewhere between the theatrical re-release of Toy Story in 3D (Oct. 2009) and the...

    WDW Laying off Cast Members

It didn't really specify from the article, but I'm assuming the layoffs were involving the upper/middle management that didn't take a buyout?

Toy Story Mania... Now on the Wii

Why go to a baseball game when I can watch the exact same thing on TV? Many things are simply a better experience in person, TSM included. Couldn't agree more. As a recommendation for third party titles on the Wii, I highly recommend checking out Boom Blox and World of Goo (WiiWare). Boom Blox...

    Soda price increase

I suppose the diet has to start somewhere. Baby steps. And if there's one thing that will get me to drink Pepsi, it is this. I would gladly pay $2.19 for a regular and $2.49 for a large at a WDW theme park for that. I will also pay that for Coke.

    Soda price increase

I've found Mountain Dew, like Dr. Pepper, is one of those products you can find anywhere regardless of the brand of cola beverage offered. I definitely prefer Coke though. If I want a Pepsi, I'll just add sugar to a Coke and leave it out so it loses its carbonation. Magic!

    Plausible PI rumor

That's a heck of a bid. I've got some stuff lying around that could go to storage...

    Plausible PI rumor

That is my exact interpretation of it. From what I understand there are several structures in WS that serve as storage. Although one part of the wording seemed odd: Does that mean shipping everything overseas to be stored and then shipped back once the complex is finished? That doesn't make a...

    Are you 23?

Which is why I said, contributing to the discussion: If they're concerned about piracy of entire films, show clips, trailers, or extras/featurettes. Or how about shorts, old Disney Parks specials... anything that's in those archives? The point remains, the potential for piracy always exists, and...

    Are you 23?

Meh, still not that big of a deal if you're showing clips/previews or commentaries. Even if it would get pirated, it could prove to increase the buzz for whatever project it's about. The possibility of piracy is a pretty weak reason not to do something. Not everyone is interested in torrents or...

Location and name of Cat Cora's new restaurant

This is total conjecture, but maybe Spoodles is moving to DTD. The article only indicates that Kouzzina "is scheduled to open by fall 2009 in the space currently occupied by Spoodles." Obviously that means Spoodles is closing in that location, but doesn't rule out Spoodles moving somewhere else...

    Are you 23?

Pirate a stream? Make it a "live" event. Stream it for a limited window of time and pull it down. It's not too difficult. It would require a D23 account login to access anyways. Why not have individuals who are part of the projects chat with viewers? An interactive commentary of sorts. If they...

Disney Co pledges to Reduce Carbon Emissions to Zero

I'm pretty sure the Department of Energy is not considered part of the "Mainstream Media," who tend to always be the scapegoat when it comes to ridiculous debates. If all we needed was a high school gym, I'm pretty sure things like this and this would not exist or be needed. I'm fine with being...

    Are you 23?

Does the D23 magazine have advertisements for anything other than TWDC properties? That's why subscriptions are cheaper. The more subscribers, the more ad revenue they can generate. If there are no ads like in a traditional magazine, face value really isn't misleading.

Disney Co pledges to Reduce Carbon Emissions to Zero

At this stage I think the solution is that there is no single, perfect source of power. While nuclear is the cheapest and most efficient power source, the fact that it produces any waste means it is not the cleanest. Cleaner than coal? By a mile. Cleaner than solar, wind, geothermal, hydro? Not...

Disney Co pledges to Reduce Carbon Emissions to Zero

Yeah, they are certainly less efficient. I don't think the goal would need to be for wind/solar farms to provide all of WDW's power needs, at least not initially. Wind/solar are clean sources of energy, and the more they are used to supplement power use, the greater the reduction in direct or...

Magic Kingdom All The Time Thread

That's definitely something I hope does not continue. I don't find the issue with Buzz has to do with the concept, theme, or its place in TL, but rather with the execution and the physical restraints put on it. As a concept I find it fits quite well in the fantastical sci-fi utopian future...

Magic Kingdom All The Time Thread

That just about describes every Fantasyland attraction, which really isn't a huge problem. I think ultimately the attraction is entertaining, and the theme is fine for TL. Could it be better? Sure. There seem to be much bigger issues in MK and throughout WDW than the state of Buzz. Any unused or...

Magic Kingdom All The Time Thread

That is exactly why I think it should stay. As a kid, the Speedway was one of the attractions I looked forward to most. At the very least, for the sake of everyone's lungs, the cars do need the electric treatment. Why does Buzz need to be like MIB? I enjoy MIB, but I also don't see any reason...

Disney Co pledges to Reduce Carbon Emissions to Zero

I'm not sure why there is so much skepticism. Green solutions have come a long way, and it doesn't always translate to increased costs or poor efficiency. As TP2000 pointed out, there are a lot of green solutions already in place at other Disney Parks that could easily be implemented in WDW...
