Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

I may not have a STEM background but I can say that whether or not the river can be salvaged, the fact is every extra dollar in maintenance costs that goes to the ROA complex is a dollar “wasted” when churned through a modern MBA mindset which working in corporate America I can help recreate...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

This really is the sensible solution. If your incentives are “true expansion” in terms of capacity and overall guest experience regardless of the cost. But I also think it goes against everything TDO stands for and how the execs in Burbank view the WDW business model, too.

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I agree, but Walt Disney World is selling the “Resort” aspect and the FOMO part of missing out on the biggest new rides to the market. The intangibles that historically differentiated the park are just that… intangible. But from a sheer/cold business marketing and balance sheet standpoint it’s...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

While I don’t necessarily agree I suspect this argument does curry favor with TDO planners. There are multiple resort activities at WDW that have opportunities to relax and unwind. Want a prolonged quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of of E-ticket IP-laden rides? You can go to the hotel...

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

I haven’t been to WDW in years (two decades to be exact) but is RoA that much more unpopular there? I mean in general I feel like the rivers here at DL capture a good portion of that theoretical capacity with the canoes, rafts and the two vessels usually filled at a near full capacity at least...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

What’s interesting is with RoA “glowing away” in WDW and the Bayou Country name change this was an opportunity to sunset the canoes. But I’m happy to see this is not the case.

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

I fixed it for you so it’s acceptable to the eyes of a TDO executive.

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

I agree, best not take the parks as we know them for granite.

News Avatar Experience coming to Disneyland Resort

Credit to you! It’s even more fitting with Avatar, CoCo and Marvel expansions. Only Grizzly Peak/Soarin’ might be a bit out of place. But perhaps a National Geographic theme/tie in could work there, since Disney owns that as well. And it would be great to get wildlife animatronics and an...

News Avatar Experience coming to Disneyland Resort

Disney Cinematic Adventure. Believe someone else suggested before but it’s close enough and keeps DCA acronym.

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

To be sure it’s subjective which is “better”, but to the point that @mickEblu was asking, if I’m scheduling a trip from out west to go I’d much rather prioritize seeing the array of AA theater shows (CoP, HoP, CBMJ, AA, even EPCOT the CircleVision shows) that harkin back to something sorely...

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

For me it’s a combination of factors but probably: - nostalgia - I only went to WDW once as a 13 year old, so I’m biased. - “things to do” - views from hungry bear views, canoes, two river unique river vessels, train that actually interacts as an element of the river, Fantasmic. While the...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Practically speaking, this sounds significantly more expensive to complete and regularly maintain than what Disneyland did to readjust their river, no? And that’s not even factoring in current interest rates for initial construction contracts.

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

TDO won’t do that, don’t worry. It’ll sooner sit there as an empty plot of unused land a la Primeval Whirl, Tron, Animation Courtyard, or huge sections of EPCOT even if they delay the Villains project. Then they can chalk the savings to deferred construction costs.

MK Hall of Presidents Replaced by Muppets American History Show???

Maybe not, but for now if it can somehow avoid the wrecking ball next year when ROA becomes the dirt piles of America, it may have some oxygen left. Current parks leadership won’t be around forever either so it’s possible the pendulum shifts back again on preservation vs. replacement.

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

I just posted in HoP thread but I’m a bit more doubtful that HoP goes. I think this could be perceived as a bad taste decision at the wrong time that Iger and co. would not want dependent on how the next few months play out. But I’ll leave it at that.

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

WDW does have a lot of good theater shows including CoP, American Adventure, HoP, etc. And their RoA wasn’t anything to write home about compare to DL’s.

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Thank you! In hindsight, I think the lack of a Muppets/Jim Henson presence at D23 (even during the Frank Oz legacy award) this years should have been a hint this was on borrowed time.

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

As someone who works for a major Fortune 50 it’s not just Disney. The saying around the office often goes “The golden parachute doesn’t care if the plane is running out of fuel”. It’s always about “juicing” the next quarter.
