MK Hall of Presidents Replaced by Muppets American History Show???

Don’t jump the shark. That’s at least 10 years away.

Disney Genie/Genie+ On Their Way to Anaheim

e Agree, I just feel like the risk is multiplied when you compound the “hidden cost” equation of additional new forms of monetization on top of the regular price increases folks have come to expect. But time will tell.

Disney Genie/Genie+ On Their Way to Anaheim

Agree because the expectations have been set for the Street going forward. But eventually this metric is going to cannibalize attendance when the parks hit peak attendance and there is a natural “death spiral” from a pricing and profitability standpoint where certain incomes feel priced out by...

Disney Genie/Genie+ On Their Way to Anaheim

They’re addicted to the “per guest per capita spending metric” now presumably because KPIs (and hence executives down to Director level staff bonuses) are tied to it. It’s also seen as a silver lining when attendance dips to show per guest per capita spending going up even if one cannibalizes...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

My guess is April 2025 at the latest since I think they’ll need the extra capacity until they presumably reopen an updated HoP, because I think it’s sticking around one more presidential term. Though presumably its facade, along with most of the neighboring Frontierland facades, around the...

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

Agree. Let WDW get the “upgrades”.

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I don’t disagree there, but now we’re having a subjective qualitative discussion over DCA (is it a good park) vs. quantitive (how many visitors). The latter of which is provable in spite of its shortcomings. But I think we’re veering off topic. Since I’m not sure what any of this has to do with...

They don’t, and its attendance numbers were greater than DHS and DAK I believe. But whatever floats your riverboat (while you still have one 🙃).

Yeah, I’ll take the backwoods transition from Frontierland or BC into Batuu over having Cartoon Cars whizzing around Haunted Mansion or TBA.

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I think this option at least might make sense to Vahle and the TDO execs. Since it turns a revenue loser (in their eyes) into a revenue positive. And they get to score a “win” by listening to fans.

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I don’t doubt they’re surprised by the reaction, but I also think they’re going to charge forward perhaps at an even faster pace to “close the book on this” given permits are being filed. At Burbank they don’t think nostalgia is a core component of their Florida business model. And unlike the...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

This reminds my of a lot of social media speculation we were hearing about Splash Mountain too. I think it is extremely unlikely at this point as it simply doesn’t fit the WDW business model. At best there may be a consideration of locating Monsters to animation, retaining HOP, and keeping...

News 2023 TEA/AECOM Global Attendance Report, EPCOT Sees Significant Growth

I think we just need to give it a bit more time and the “true king” will be revealed. Where they have the “blessing of sizable insights” to maintain/refresh RoA in addition to the largest collection of E-tickets in any castle park.

Does the WDWRR have luxury cars that are tied to guided tours, etc.? I know at Disneyland there is an added morning tour that they charge $$ for one of the private cars. If so, it’s probably safe. If not maybe that would be one way for the attraction to “demonstrate value” to TDO execs.

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Pocahontas, Brother Bear, Bambi, Robin Hood, or even UP all would have fit a backwoods national park theme better. Unlike at DL where Tiana fits quite well. They really should have had better foresight if they were going to take Frontierland in this direction. Another option would have been...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Stop it! All this talk about “free” entertainment (sans the *modest* cost of admission) and you’re going to make the folks at TDO lose their lunch. They’ll be calling out of work Monday after having panic attacks.

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

Most “normies” I’ve talked to think the idea of removing a RoA is insane. With Splash no one knew the characters, I think losing Muppets will be acceptable to the general public particularly if they move a new show to HoP as well since Liberty Square is likely to get facade changes alongside...

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

It would be conceivably the end of Muppets representation in the parks so this is literally their “last stand”. Whereas no other Disney park is likely to bulldoze their RoA anytime soon, so there’s that. Maybe Tokyo someday, but I don’t have confidence they’ll knock this design out of the park...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I agree here. As I’ve stated over multiple threads I don’t think this has much (if anything) to do with the “committee” in question, unless it’s a financial committee. This decision is seemingly specific to the way the WDW business model is structured. The blame should rest with TDO and the...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

In fairness I really don’t think this is on the Imagineers. They’re being dealt a hand from execs that is a corporate mandate that says ROA is a proverbial money suck that needs to go. If Jeff Vahle, Josh D’Amaro and TDO leadership views WDW guests as walking semi-sentient ATM machines, ROA is...
