Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Our district is supplying us with two masks. I *think* they are also providing students with two masks. However, from what I have read in my various teacher groups, some districts are providing masks, but some districts are not. We have been told that hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes will be...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

We already have parents in our district who have started a petition against the mask requirement for all students and school staff. (although that requirement can be over-ridden by a dr's note). Because apparently what they see as their right to not wear a mask, or have their child wear a mask...

I'm sure subs will be lining up! No problem at all!

Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

How about we tell that to the families of the kids involved in a school district sports camp that had to shut down because some of the athletes tested positive for the virus? And the summer camp in Missouri where 82 kids/staff have now tested positive?

Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

Not only living close to, but many live in the same households. Some of those grandparents are care-givers while parents work. One of the many things I'm concerned about when it comes to schools reopening in person.

Honestly, I believe this. Unfortunately, big tech companies like Google, Apple, etc, have been sketchy in the past, (okay, not just the past) so people are extremely skeptical that they'll be on the up and up about this, and not turn it to their advantage.

I hope people realize that in-school instruction is going to vastly change. It will not be what students, teachers, and parents are used to.

And I respect your opinion. I think there could be other ramifications w/ full steam ahead that could end up affecting students even more negatively, but we'll have to agree to disagree.

Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

I'm sorry, I will try to stop after this, but I've been teaching a long time. I've got a pretty good handle on discipline, but to talk about "better control in a classroom" especially when you're talking about very young children (ex Kindergarten/1st grade), some of those children have multiple...

This cracks me up...I worked MORE hours when we were distance learning! It was incredibly time intensive.

Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

I understand that grocery store workers come into contact with hundreds of people a day. The difference is that at least from what I've read, and I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong, there's a greater danger of transmission with prolonged contact. Which is what hours in a classroom would...

Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

A We also have a responsibility to our families. And to not expose our at-risk family members to the virus. And to our students and our students' families. If there is a safer way to deliver instruction, then that needs to be considered. Believe it or not, I suspect there are very few...

Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

As a teacher, it makes me apprehensive as well. There are many articles in recent weeks about how there is very little risk to students. I read one such opinion article from Bloomberg a couple of days ago. At no point did the writer acknowledge that there are also adults in the building. It also...

Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

Okay, sincere question...how is sending kids to school (and there are adults there as well) and working in an office safer than going to a movie, eating inside a restaurant, or going to an amusement park? You're in an enclosed space for hours. Those are the two things in the moderate risk...

And some of those teachers, who may not be at risk, are going home to a spouse that is. :( I would LOVE to get back in the classroom. Safely. I always thought it would be great to teach from home. (In my pjs, lol.) However, after being faced with the reality, I realized pretty quickly that I...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I agree....I constantly think about my parents. I stopped by earlier this week, and my mom came out to her front porch (my dad was taking his dog for a ride in his Kubota, lol), but we stood about 15 feet apart (I was wearing my mask, to be try to be a little safer), and talked for about 15...

News Disney to heavily reduce Capital Expenditures in the parks throughout 2020 during COVID-19 crisis

Maybe someone else has said this (I still have a couple more pages to go), but I think when it comes down to it, it will depend on the rides, not the IP. Just like FoP. I couldn't care less about Avatar (the movie), but the ride is a whole different ballgame. To be honest, the one I'm most...

What is your favorite WDW Restaurant ?

We've taken two Universal-only trips in the last couple of years. Each time we made ADRs for Sanaa. We love it!

Ok, you can pick 10 attractions from Disney/Uni to create a single park

This looks exactly like what my list would be like. Honorable mention to Alien Encounter, which I loved.
