    The Grand Floridian worth it?

"Worth" is as subjective as any conversation can get. I love the GF. It's a beautiful hotel with great amenities. The atmosphere is very fancy. I love Pop Century too. Different reasons for each. I have the good fortune that the cost isn't a critical factor. I can afford to stay where I...

Annual Passes for Someone Not Living in Florida?

I'm in Ottawa, Canada. I get APs whenever I'm planning two or more trips within 12 months. I've gone as many as 6 trips on one pass. The flying to/from is more concern than the AP.

News Disney testing smart speakers in guest rooms at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club

I work for a Government Agency that makes me a likely target, so my concerns are a bit different. Anything connected can be used for nefarious ends by a dedicated hacker. I don't have cameras or microphones on any computer in my house. I avoid any IoT technology on items I buy and mitigate any...

Will disney still offer a payment to forego room service

Minor correction: They have lots of housekeeping staff. They just prefer not to pay them if it can be avoided. Declining Mousekeeping for one room doesn't do anything. When enough rooms "opt out", they can call a Mousekeeper and tell them they're not needed and won't get paid. I will never opt...

1st Cruise, getting to Port Canaveral?

Given that the route from WDW to the port goes past MCO, it's about 15-20 minutes shorter MCO > Port than WDW > Port. ;)

Trip Report But I Want A FIGMENT Magnet

Me too. Sadly they'll likely be gone by the time I get there in April. :arghh:

How often do you go to Disney?

Anywhere from 2-6 times a year. Coming from Canada, the major expense is the flights.

    Wait Lines for New Gondolas

There will still be bus service at the resorts served. People need to get to DS, AK and MK. You’ll still be able to get to EPCOT and DHS for no cost by taking two buses.

DHS Different way of handling queues?

I started by saying that eliminating FP+ and only having one line wouldn’t work. GAC works with the FP+ lines and therefore has nothing to do with the discussion at hand. If the only available line has a wait of 40+ minutes, a GAC doesn’t help.

DHS Different way of handling queues?

Actually, it's got nothing to do with what you did or didn't do "pre-FP". It has to do with physical disability and not being capable. But thanks for being arrogant and thinking you know everything. It adds so little to, well, anything constructive.

DHS Different way of handling queues?

Eliminating FP+ from SWGE or across the board isn't an answer. There are many guests, myself included, who simply can not wait in a long queue. No FP+ and I stop going to Disney.

Can I remove someone from a booked trip?

You can make changes to your booking right up to the day it has to be paid off.

    Yes.

    Any success in "winging it"

My only concern would be the slight risk you won't use all your TS credits.

    Free dining questions

I haven't used the Dining Plans in years. Travelling solo or with my son and his fiance, I've found room discounts and the Tables in Wonderland card save me more than "free" dining. Depending on the size of your party and your eating habits, your results may vary.

    Travel Insurance

Check your Credit Card policy. Mine has really good trip insurance that is applied automatically to any trip I pay for with the card. It can also be added to with supplemental coverage if it's not covering enough. The only time I buy any other insurance is for cruises, simply because any other...

Is Yacht/Beach Club twice as nice as POR?

"Worth" is always subjective. I prefer BC over POR. The ability to walk to EPCOT [and to stumble home after drinking] is a significant bonus.

    Wait Lines for New Gondolas

Those resorts have stores and restaurants. They are not exclusively for guests of the resorts, so transportation can't reasonably be limited to only guests of the resorts.

Guest injured on Typhoon Lagoon Attraction

It's also possible that whatever he did was something that should not be possible and before they can move forward they have to determine A) how he did it, and B) how to defeat someone from doing it again. When designing rides, there's an aspect of assessing what a rider can potentially do...
