Adults with no kids character dining?

My sister and I, both senior citizens, do both Crystal Palace and Garden Grill, and the characters always spend some quality time with us. What helps is I keep my camera on the table, so they see we are interested, and we keep an eye out for characters approaching and wave to them, huge smiles...

    Seating at Garden Grill

Likewise, we've been two at GG several times and have always had our own table. Once we were on the upper tier, and even that was fine

Access to a resort without a restaurant reservation

I think since you will have Magic Bands showing you are actually staying on property, that will help, Just show your band to the guard and say you are going to eat at the food court, and they should let you in. Again, it could depend on how crowded the resort is. Port Orleans shouldn't be a...

    Birthday dinner at WDW

That only works if the kid is using earbuds. We sat next to a family where the young girl was watching a DVD and all we could hear was the sound of her show.

Which character meal would you recommend?

I'm a big fan of Garden Grill. The food is really good, and the characters come around pretty quickly (we've had them come by twice in one meal), plus the way the restaurant is set up, the interaction feels more "personal." And it's Mickey and Friends

    Tipping?

Since we are DVC, we used to get trash and towel only every fourth day, and we tended not to tip since we usually had brought our own trash down anyway, so all they were doing was giving us fresh towels (no other service involved) We do tip any bell people who help us unload or load the car...

Keep ADR for Coral Reef lunch, or try the F&G food kiosks?

Haven't been to Coral Reef for a while, but have always enjoyed the experience of watching the fish in an air-conditioned, table-service location. The problem I always have with the food booths is having to stand around while you eat. At best you can lean on a high top table to eat, but...

    Beware when modifying Dining ressies.

I had the problem of a canceled reservation still showing up in both the app and on line, even though I had a confirmed cancellation and had booked something else. Called the Help Desk and they said it was a glitch in the software, and were able to delete the canceled reservation, but assured...

Using a fire stick in the hotels?

We were wondering if the ports had been disabled, and wondered if they would re-enable them on request. Always bring the laptop anyway, so I may ask next trip

Using a fire stick in the hotels?

Possibly stupid questions, but can you attach a laptop with an HDMI cord and watch stuff off the laptop (such as Hulu on line)? And where do you plug in the HDMI? Last time I was at OKW, there was a box next to the TV that had an HDMI port, but if I plugged in the cord, nothing happened. Do...

What deluxe resort to stay at?

We've stayed at most of the Deluxe, and when it comes to Epcot resorts, a few thoughts: BC: If you enjoy spending time on the balcony (one of major perks for a Deluxe, to us), some of the "balconies" are too small to sit on. All you can do is open the door and look out. Also, I've heard that...

    UBER from resort to parks

Thanks, ABQ! And yep, annoying by useful! :)

    UBER from resort to parks

Question - if Uber picks you up at your resort, does it have to be at the hotel lobby? For example, if we are staying at OKW, will Uber pick us up at our building, or do we have to get to the Hospitality House to be picked up? Thanks!

ISO tips for a 1st time driver at WDW

Another consideration is do you plan on having any alcohol? If we are going to, we take Disney transportation. Also, driving in the dark is harder if you are not sure exactly where you are going, and if you are leaving close to park closing, the traffic can be horrific. I generally prefer...

    Personally Unappealing TS Menus

Totally agree - we often as to swap out sides from other entrees, even on the kids' meals, and there is often a substitute anyway. For example, a while back the steak at Coral Reef came with horseradish mashed potatoes. When we asked if there was an alternative, the waiter volunteered that...

Florida Residents can get a free appetizer and valet parking at select signature restaurants

Tough call on the valet parking - you make a good point, but Touring Plans says, "To encourage Guests to dine at a few select signature restaurants, Jiko, Citricos, and Artist Point, Disney will be offering Florida residents a complimentary appetizer with each adult entree that’s purchased...

Florida Residents can get a free appetizer and valet parking at select signature restaurants

I was going to ask the same question, but my "perk" would be the free valet parking. We've booked the Fish, and valet parking at The BW would be excellent.

    The Crystal Palace Reservations.

It's happened to me in the past, too, particularly with MK restaurants. Had the same problem with Liberty Tree, and about a week later it all opened up. Just keep trying!
