My daughter detests shots. She was so very nervous, chattering up a storm. She did not even realize the nurse gave her the shot until the nurse was putting a bandaid on it. No pinching skin- just cleaned the area Needle seemed "thinner" than the flu shot needle. Daughter had minimal arm...
Don't be nervous. My special needs daughter is nervous about everything, and handled it like a trooper. She loved talking to all the national guard people there. And the nurse who gave the shot was very compassionate, as was the man who signed her in before the shot.
We also get a DAS for my daughter, who has a seizure disorder (brain tumor x 2) and speech language/developmental disabilities. She also looks "normal" until she speaks or has a seizure (not grand mal). We HAVE had people comment to our faces on why we are "cutting the line" at airports...
Literally just got home from my Pfizer shot. Was at NY's Aqueduct Racetrack - state run site. Very well organized. Was in and out in 25 minutes for 2 of us to get our vaccines, which included 15 minutes of sitting time in a dedicated area to make sure we tolerated the shots. Took way...
Getting my 1st vaccine today. Hubby had just slight arm soreness from his. My arm usually gets very swollen from flu shot. Hoping I have nothing, though I wouldn't mind a day off from working out either.
We are going May 1-6, and are hoping for smaller crowds, even though we are arriving on a Saturday. Have reservation for MK, but Won't be there (staying at CR and will walk there) until early afternoon, so are hoping the crowds lessen a bit by then.
Husband got Pfizer vaccine Friday. Saturday arm was a bit sore - nothing to write home about, he said. By Sunday afternoon no soreness. Hoping no problems after 2nd vaccine. I get my Pfizer Wednesday, and special needs daughter gets it Friday. Will gladly put up with some arm soreness to be...
Just saw this- don't know when your first shot is, but maybe this is sooner.
Eligible New Yorkers can start making appointments at New York/FEMA mass vaccination sites in Buffalo, Rochester, Albany and Yonkers. These four sites open March 3 and appointments are initially reserved for eligible...
They are doing that in city and Long Island also. Supposedly they may open it up to more people (any NYers) when they think the flow of people who "qualify" slows down.
Just found this on the NYS vaccine site- hope it helps

We were lucky enough to get appts the day they opened them up to NYers with underlying medical conditions. My husband got his Pfizer shot this past Friday, I have mine next Wed., and my daughter has hers next Friday. After finally getting through on the phone my husband also got his brother...
Thanks for the review. We are heading to Disney (after 4 cancellations due to covid) May 1. My family will have our vaccinations by then (getting 1st dose next week) and plan on being as careful as possible. My main worry is "other" people who may not follow the social distancing, etc.
My first visit was in 1976. I was 18 years old. My family did not have any money to spend on vacations. In lieu of any kind of high school graduation present/party/money I asked that we go to Disneyworld. My dad did not want to go, so I took my mom (first time there for her at age 48) and my...
My daughter had covid the beginning of last March. Got antibodies tested, donated plasma as she had antibodies. Had to have a covid test (negative) December upon returning to NY from a short vacay in Florida. Had another antibody test done just for the heck of it at same time. Guess what -...
NY just opened up vaccines for underlying medical conditions. After more than 12 hours of trying on Sunday (the day it opened) we finally got appts for the first week of March! So excited. Now we don't have to cancel our 5/1 Disney vacay, which has been cancelled 4x already! And we will...
TY for update. 4/6 definitely better than none. Maybe with Biden increasing the amount of dosages we won't have to wait until Sept. Maybe just June. Will still have to cancel our May Disneyworld vacay if no shots.
Hope they get it. My aunt was supposed to get her shot tomorrow (Tuesday) at a church in Hempstead. Got a call last night that it was cancelled because they ran out of vaccine and she has to re-schedule, which was a pain in the butt last time. Terrible.
I just want a vaccination. The chances of my family and myself getting one before May here in NY is slight - even with 3 of us having pretty severe pre-existing conditions - none due to our lifestyle/choices. Guess we will be cancelling our Disneyworld trip (5/1) for the 4th time.....
