    Whispering Canyon Antics question

My son really, really wants to know what kind of "antics" they do at Whispering Canyon. We know about the ketchup & straws, but what do they do if you wear Universal gear? And anything else they may do. Your input would be appreciated. He likes interacting with the wait staff & had fun at 50's...

Best Disney tip you ever got!

ok, I know this may be an "uncouth" (spelling?) tip, BUT I read on one of these forums one year about using roll-on anti-perspirant solid for your feet. It helps prevent blisters. After my very first trip in 2000, and blisters on 6 out of 10 toes (slight exaggeration), I tried it on the next...

T-Rex: What to order...Help me get psyched!!!

We loved T-Rex. I had the chicken fried steak last year (it's huge! plan to share!) It was good. I had lasagne this year. Loved it. I split the chicken & rib combo with my dad a couple years ago and it was also good. Dad loved the ribs. BUT hands down, you gotta get the chocolate extinction...

    The Planning Schedule.

I have a method to my madness. I always put the park I spend the least amount in (AK) first. Any money left over, I carry over to the 2nd park (DHS), then MK, then Epcot. I always spend the most in Epcot. Any money left over from the previous days carry over to my last day. Once I make my...

greet n meet or character meal???

Hands down, Character Meal. We have stood in lines only to get to the front and then the character had to leave. But if you wanted a better background M&G's are better. At meals, you almost always get someone else in the background unless it's like Cinderella before you get to the tables.

    Booking trip/question on Dining plan

We made a list of restaurants we wanted to do and printed out menus. We picked what we might order and added it up. Depending on who's going with us, we decide which sit-down places we want to do. Usually it saves us to do the dining plan. Plus it's easier to just give them our room card...

    Birthday Surprise!

I surprised my son (then 7) with the trip. It was our first one. I told close family members about the trip and they got gifts that he could use on the trip. The final gift from me was a big stuffed Mickey with a Mickey-themed card attached, along with a luggage tag, that said "Can't wait to...

Do you plan the order you visit the parks in advance?

We plan, plan, plan & there is a method to the madness. We divide our spending money for the number of days we do. I have an envelope decorated for each of us, for each park. I always start with the park I know I spend the least amount of souvenir money in (AK). Any souvenir money we don't...

Animal rights petition the layoff of dolphins from Epcot's The Seas

I read the petition, and then a lot of the comments. It really gets me sometimes that Disney is the main company people target with their complaints, etc. As I was reading the petition, I wondered if they had actually done any research on those dolphins and the facility. I knew I had read...

    Advice on when to travel

We have been in October 3 different times. The first time was great - no crowds, etc. The other two times (around the same time both years) were more crowded. We went the second week of May one year. The crowds were lighter, but boy was it hot! This year, we went the second week of January...

Is there a "bad" WDW resort?

I have stayed at several. AllStar Movies was cute, but when we went (early Dec. 2006) it was the last to pick up on the bus line. It stopped at the other to AllStars first. By the time it got to us, the bus was full, which was a pain, since our dad was in a wheelchair. We have stayed at...

Going to Disney on a shoestring budget

If you're not doing a dining plan, 2 people can share meals. If you do counter service restaurants, you can order kid meals. Either way, the portions are large. You can't do that at buffet places though. Also, we figure $50 per day (minimum) for spending for each person (more if we're...

Moms Passing but Disney Vacation Planned?

I lost my youngest sister in February. We had planned a vacation to WDW with her & her kids for this December. When she got sick and then died (complications from the flu) it really hit us hard & I started feeling like I could never do WDW at Christmas without her because that was her favorite...

Having a Pirate Party and need ideas please help.

We did this theme for my son several years ago. I poured dark tea into a cake pan and soaked a sheet of paper in it for several minutes. After it dries, it looks like aged paper. I burnt the edges to add to the "aged look". After it completely dried I drew out a "map" for them to look for a...

Transportation to Universal (not my idea!)

My sister does the driving while I navigate. Unfortunately, she has severe road rage. (I've learned to tune it out). I should have said SHE refuses to drive from OKW to I of A. But between now & then, she may change her mind when I give her the prices of transportation!
