Did YOU read the article. It says they had settled with ICON park and the operator of the attraction, but continued to pursue the manufacturer. The ride was operated by Eagle Drop Slingshot, who was not the manufacturer. The manufacturer was FunTime rides, who has built several of these rides.

I still fail to see how the manufacturer was as fault. A seatbelt would have made no difference. It's like suing a car manufacturer because someone jerry rigged a car to operate without any safety restraints. (Many towers - like Dr Doom for example - do not have seat belts. Because, unless...

The vehicles were being put through too much stress on the exterior (after all, the vehicles were based off of autonomous cargo movers at seaports), so it's being reworked to be flatter.
