Thank you for your post. The reason I appreciate this thread being kept.

This is terrible! (Thread orginally posted 9/11/2001)

Always remember this thread. I found it that year looking for how WDW was handling things. But it became a strong memory for me of the event as it unfolded, period. Always remember. Thanks for keeping this, @wdwmagic

Pete Renaday, voice of Henry in CBJ and Master Splinter in TMNT, dead at 89

This has been mentioned the Country Bear update thread, but Pete Renaday deserves his own thread. “Howdy folks… welcome to the one and only original Country Bear Jamboree…”. Pete Renaday was a remarkable Disney voice talent and presence right up there with Thurl Ravenscroft and so many others...

    The Downtown Disney Thread

It all looks like the continued sterilized “modern” shopping center look to me, with a few IP nods thrown in. I miss the immersive theming and fun they used to put in, which made it distinctive.

    EPCOT Morocco Pavilion redevelopment

Authenticity at EPCOT used to matter. 😢

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

Can’t agree more. Yay! A hospital lobby or bland convention center!

EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

And definitely adds value to the almost $1000 for a family to visit in a day. And that Communicre shopping center, uh, er, event space so adds to the value of it all.

News Disney Legend Richard M. Sherman Passes Away At Age 95

Oh my goodness. Just saw this. He was such an inspiration, and truly enthusiastic about his work. One quirky thing that I remember was that, despite that overall enthusiasm, he said that one song of theirs that he never liked was “Now is the Time” — the song that G.E. commissioned to replace...

News May 4th 2024 at Disney's Hollywood Studios

I also remember that Star Wars Weekends had Mickey dressed as Luke and Minnie dressed as Leia, and the others dressed up in Star Wars garb as well; but once Disney bought Star Wars, I remember that an edict went down that that could no longer happen. They wanted the SW characters to remain...

    DHS 35th

Looks like they didn’t learn from the Epcot 25th or subsequent debacles, where fans outdid the company on cobbling together an anniversary celebration. Some fan groups are already advertising other meetups.

News V.I.Passholder Days return in 2024

I didn’t realize the restaurant had closed. I haven’t been to WDW in a while (too expensive), except for a couple of days for the D23 event in September, but I always thought that restaurant was interesting and unique. Sad to see it go.

Question about docking station that uses thunderbolt

It has a Thunderbolt cable that fits a USB-C port (which on my work tablet is also a Thunderbolt port). And yes, it powers my work tablet when plugged into it. I am trying to buy a laptop that I can also have that docking station plugged into it for the multiple monitors.

Question about docking station that uses thunderbolt

I have a Dell docking station for work (with two monitors and sound attached) that connects to my work-provided Dell tablet via USB-C with Thunderbolt. I have to buy a new personal laptop, which I would also like to connect to the docking station from time to time, for the dual monitors. But I...

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

Because I was talking about the trend as a whole, as @Disone had explained; this announcement is consistent with it. The reason I fell in love with WDW in the first place was the attention to detail and theming. I also hope that they read our concerns and understand what makes Disney...

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

That may be true, but their statement specifically cited murals, paintings, and portraits as the details that they highlighted. That is consistent with the overall de-theming and removal of architectural detail in exchange for plain walls with artwork (like a Marriott) that has been the...

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

Whether that space was well-designed before doesn’t affect that fact that it is lazy today — and that Disney used to be extraordinary at architectural detail and full theming. It was what made Disney unique, and anything but lazy. I just call it when i see today, because I want Disney to have...

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

That is what is lazy about it. They are not architectural detail, which is a hallmark of the era.

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

“Murals,” “drawings,” and “portaits” do not equate to architectural detail. Art, yes; architecture, no. Especially when intending to represent a Victorian beach resort or a carousel from the Gilded Age… That is what is lazy about it.
